Perhaps her impressive record as a breeder is a result of her deep roots in the industry.

A Florida-bred filly selling as Hip 153 sold to Douglas Scharbauer for $500,000 Monday during the first day of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Consigned by Denali Stud as an agent for Bridlewood Farm, the bay filly is by Gun Runner out of the stakes-winning mare Osare, by Medaglia d’Oro. Osare is a half-sister to champion 3-year-old colt and multiple Grade 1-winner Arrogate and stakes-placed Diamond Ore.

Dancing N Dixie will take her come-from-behind running style to the undulating turf course at Kentucky Downs Wednesday where the Florida-bred filly runs in the $1.6 million Pepsi Dueling Grounds Oaks Invitational. Set at a mile-and-five-sixteenths, the Dueling Grounds Oaks has attracted an overflow field of 15 sophomore fillies including three on the also eligible list.

There are 535 horses cataloged in two Open sessions.

The North Marion High School Future Farmers of America chapter was recognized as one of the nation’s finest FFA chapters at the Florida FFA State Convention held in June and later recognized by Marion County Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education program when classes returned in September. The chapter was judged nationally and received a Three Star Chapter status which is the highest ranking a chapter can earn and considered the gold standard.
