Saffie Joseph Jr. Goes to $170,000 for Florida-bred McKinzie Filly

Several Florida-bred yearlings continued to attract six-figure purchase prices at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale including Hip 2222, a filly by McKinzie that went to trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. on Monday for $170,000. Consigned by Paramount Sales as agent, the bay filly is out of the winning Trappe Shot mare Shotdowninflames, a half-sister to Grade 3-winner Luan Time. The filly was bred by in Florida by Castle Gate Farm LLC.

Gene Corbin Passes

He was born May, 21, 1941 in Old Town, Fla., to Willie Orbie Corbin and Willie Mae Long Corbin.


Corbin discovered a love for horses at an early age. This passion led him to pursue a lifelong career as a Thoroughbred horseman.
