Floridians Take Four TIEA Awards

The Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards presented by Godolphin USA had a Sunshine State influence Wednesday night during a ceremony held at the Keeneland Sales Pavilion in Lexington, Ky., as four of the honorees hail from Central Florida. Winners were announced in seven categories with a total of $122,000 awarded and FanDuel Television’s Todd Schrupp was the master of ceremonies.

Graded Stakes Winner Octane is Highweight in FTBOA Campbell Memorial Handicap

Assigned to carry 126 pounds, Arindel homebred Octane will give away between four and 13 pounds to his six Florida-bred rivals as he defends his title in the $150,000 Gilbert G. Campbell Memorial Handicap at Gulfstream Park Saturday. The purse for the one-mile Campbell includes a $50,000 top 3 bonus for Florida Sire Stakes-eligible runners presented by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

Florida-bred One Sharp Cookie Tries Turf for First Time in Carle Place

One Sharp Cookie, who was unsuccessful in making his stakes debut in the Grade 2 Gallant Bob at Parx Racing in his last race, will try racing on turf for the first time Friday in the $135,000 Carle Place for 3-year-olds going six furlongs at Aqueduct.
