Senate Passes Abortion Ban in State Employee Insurance Plans
On a vote of 18 to 14, the Senate passed Assembly Bill 128 (Rep. Andr é Jacque, R-De Pere), which prohibits Wisconsin's Group Insurance Board from entering into any contract with respect to a group health insurance plan or providing a group health insurance plan on a self-insured basis if, with certain exceptions, the plan provides abortion services to state employees under the Wisconsin Retirement System. The WCC testified in support of the bill, which now awaits the Governor's action.

Assembly Passes Rent-to-Own Bills
On February 22, by a vote of 59 to 35, the Assembly passed an amended Assembly Bill 759 (Rep. Warren Petryk, R-Eleva), which removes regulation of rent-to-own (RTO) transactions from the Wisconsin Consumer Act (WCA). The bill now goes to the Senate. The WCC testified against the bill.
