Wisconsin receives federal approval for state's Electric Vehicle Plan

The Federal Highway Administration has approved Wisconsin's plan to expand its electric vehicle charging stations under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) initiative. The approval means that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) can now receive federal funding to implement the Wisconsin Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan.

"As we work to implement the state's first-ever Clean Energy Plan, upgrading Wisconsin's electric vehicle infrastructure is one of the most important steps forward we can take to move towards a cleaner, more sustainable future," Gov. Evers said. "This plan approval and the federal funds Wisconsin will receive as a result will help bolster our state, our infrastructure, and our economy for years to come."

"Get Charged Webinar Series"

EV Charging for Multi-Unit Dwellings

The first webinar in the "Get Charged" Series - Electric Vehicle Charging for Multi-Unit Dwellings, recently took place.

Since plug-in electric vehicle charging is accelerating nationwide, this webinar addressed many topics:difficulties faced by condominium and apartment property managers, owners and residents: along with

barriers and technologies related to deployment of EV chargers at multi-unit dwellings.

Attendees learned firsthand about an easy-to-use toolkit that has been developed with project partners, including the Center for Sustainable Energy, through a grant project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Vehicle Technologies Office.

Ho-Chunk Baraboo, WI

EV Charger Site Ground Breaking

Inertial Electric recently broke ground at the

Ho-Chunk hotel and casino in Baraboo, WI for a brand new EV charger site. The site will deploy two ABB Terra 184s, 180 kW maximum each, with 2 ports for a total of 4 charging stalls. There will be two traditional, ADA compliant “pull-in” stalls and two unique, ADA compliant “pull-through” stalls. The charging stations will be located in front of the main casino entrance in the west parking lot of the facility. The Ho-Chunk nation is proud to offer these chargers for public charging and look forward to providing a DC fast charging option minutes off I-94 and for visitors to WI Dells.

Inertial Electric is providing the equipment, engineered the site layout, and is the General Contractor for the project. Alliant Energy is also a proud partner in this project. Many thanks to Lorrie Lisek and WI Clean Cities who also played a key role in making this project possible.

The site will be ready to begin public charging in the spring of 2023.
