Wisconsin Clean Cities honors top sustainable fleets
Awards presented at
Transportation Conference & Annual Meeting
GREEN BAY — Wisconsin Clean Cities recently honored the top sustainable transportation leaders in Wisconsin at the Wisconsin Clean Cities Transportation Conference & Annual Meeting, the nonprofit announced.
“It's rewarding to see Wisconsin Clean Cities members demonstrate their commitment to sustainability through the use of clean transportation fuels, advanced vehicle technologies and energy-saving strategies." Wisconsin Clean Cities Executive Director Lorrie Lisek said. "We applaud their efforts as they support local jobs and our economy, while providing improved air quality and increased use of domestic energy resources.”
Forward Fleet Award winners, honored for the amount of petroleum displaced through the use of clean fuels and sustainable transportation technologies, were fifth place Paper Transport, Inc. of De Pere, fourth place Time Transport, Inc. of Franksville, third place Contract Transport Services of Green Bay, second place Michels of Brownsville and first place Kwik Trip of La Crosse.
Collectively, the Forward Fleet Award winners displaced more than 31.6 million gasoline gallon equivalents. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, that represents the greenhouse gas emission reduction equivalent of taking roughly 60,606 passenger vehicles off the road for one year.
All Forward Fleet Award winners were selected from among Wisconsin Clean Cities stakeholders who submitted annual survey reports, which detail their efforts over the previous year to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and displace petroleum.
The awards were presented Dec. 8 during the Wisconsin Clean Cities Transportation Conference and Annual Meeting at The Automobile Gallery and Event Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the event highlighted a clean fuel panel and speakers including Kaleb Vander Wiele from the WisDOT Division of Budget and Strategic Initiatives Department; Maria Redmond from the Wisconsin Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy and Tony Maietta from U.S. EPA, Region 5.
