Connect, learn and be transformed at Annual Meeting 2025

Annual Meeting 2025 is just two days away, and we’re looking forward to seeing many of you there. Annual Meeting always has some of the feel of a family reunion, but this year’s gathering is especially significant as the Conference considers a historic structural change.

Association meetings: On Saturday morning, we anticipate a milestone in the life of the Conference when our four historic associations meet to conduct final business, vote to dissolve, and celebrate their work in a litany of farewell. Association functions will subsequently be transferred to the Conference. Those of you who are unable to attend Annual Meeting in person can participate in the association meetings by Zoom. The meetings are scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to noon. Sign up to attend by going to one of the following links:

The decisions expected to be made on Saturday will set the stage for an exciting new phase in the life of the Conference. We encourage you to take part, in person or online.

Meet the justice teams: Our justice ministry working groups are models of the importance of cross-Conference connections. They emerged from the passions of individuals who forged alliances with likeminded people – sometimes in a neighboring congregation, sometimes several hours away. These groups will be key players in the Resource Network that is central to the emerging Conference architecture.

The justice groups will be on hand in the exhibit hall at Annual Meeting. If we tried to name them, we would forget one. You can find them all here.

Worship materials: Is your pastor going to be away on Sunday, June 8? Not to worry. You should have received a set of worship resources by email. These materials were designed to make it convenient for pastors to be gone but if that’s not the case in your congregation, you can use them on a different occasion. The materials were designed with an eye toward the Annual Meeting theme, "Transformation: Changing from Glory into Glory." Download the materials here.

And a friendly reminder: Thursday's intensive workshop will be held at Daycholah Center, starting at 10 a.m.

We look forward to seeing you in Green Lake.

Daycholah to host Our Whole Lives training

The Wisconsin and Minnesota conferences will train facilitators in the Our Whole Lives sexuality education curriculum Aug. 8-10 at Daycholah Center in Green Lake. Two levels of training will be offered – one for facilitators of the youth curriculum for students in grades 7 through 12, and one for facilitators of the adult curriculum. OWL is the nation’s most highly regarded lifespan sexuality curriculum.

The training will prepare facilitator and enable members of congregational faith development teams to understand their own and others’ sexuality within the context of United Church of Christ values.

Summer publishing schedule

Are you planning on some down time this summer? We are, too.

We’ll be back next week with an Annual Meeting Special Edition of Wisconsin Conference Life. After that, we’ll be on our summer publishing schedule, with one newsletter each published the first week of July and August. We’ll keep you up to date on important developments in the Conference by email and on Facebook.

We’ll also spend time this summer considering some tweaks to our communications platforms to make sure we’re making it easy for you connect with individuals and congregations who share your ministry passions across the Conference. If you have ideas about how we can best share information across the Conference, email us at admin@wcucc.org

The Kairos Call to Action Newsletter was created to support the efforts of congregations, families and individuals who want to be a part of the UCC’s Kairos Call to Action. Through this newsletter the Conference Creation Care Team will provide resources for study and worship, encourage advocacy on behalf of climate justice, and help congregations find and connect with partners who share this common concern and commitment.

The Wisconsin Conference Older Adult Ministries work group has introduced a new monthly publication, Aging in Grace, which contains resources for congregations, reflections on the challenges and opportunities faced by senior members of our congregations, and questions intended to help congregations assess their ministry with seniors. Subscribe to Aging in Grace.

The Older Adults Ministries group emerged over the past two years as a platform for sharing ideas and resources to enable churches to be more intentional in ministering with older adults. Seniors account for around three-quarters of members of Christian churches in the United States.
