"Our practice in the yoga room is powerful, but we don't have to stop our practice when we walk out of that room. It manifests itself in the choices we make, from our relationships to the music we play, to the cell phone we turn off when we are around other people. It manifests in considering how the actions and sounds we produce will impact other people's nervous systems. The Buddhists call this being mindful, and our mothers called it simply being polite and thoughtful. Let's see if we can quiet down our world, in which we've made our homes. The quieter we become, the more likely it is that we'll be able to hear the voice of wisdom within."
