Background and Purpose
In recent months, the Wise County Office of Marketing & Community Development has taken steps to revise its mission and vision for the future of the department. Promotion and support of tourism and hospitality businesses operating in Wise County will remain a primary function of the department, however, a new focus will include population growth strategies and marketing and resource campaigns to attract new residents to Wise County. This new departmental priority was established in response to the County’s sustained decline in population in recent years and in taking advantage of increased remote work opportunities and the growing preference for rural living caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Logo Design Contest
To better attract new residents, the Wise County Office of Marketing & Community Development will launch a new slogan and marketing campaign with the following theme:
Wise County, Virginia
“Stay for a Weekend. Stay for a Lifetime.”
This slogan will be incorporated into a logo that will be used in new marketing materials for Wise County including brochures, billboards, digital content, and more. To best capture the spirit of life in Wise County, the department will host a logo design contest and invite members of the local community with artistic and/or graphic design experience to make custom submissions. Official Contest Rules
- Logos should contain the terms “Wise County, Virginia” and “Stay for a Weekend. Stay for a Lifetime.”
- Logos should be developed with the goal of attracting new residents in mind (i.e. encouraging visitors to purchase or lease residential property, start a new business, telework, start a family, or retire in Wise County).
- Logos should utilize the provided color scheme as closely as possible.
- All logos will be shared on the Visit Wise County Facebook page and a “People’s Choice” vote will be taken to select finalists.
- Winning logo will be chosen through a combination of Facebook votes, Wise County Tourism Committee, and Wise County staff.
- Winning artist will receive a $500 award and recognition on the County website and social media accounts.
- Logos should be submitted in JPG/PNG format.
- Winner may be asked to provide the logo in vector format.
- Preferred aspect ratio 1:1 (square image)
- File size should be no larger than 100kb.
- Individuals may submit no more than two (2) logos for contest entry.
- All logos submitted become the property of Wise County and may not be used in any other capacity.
- Wise County reserves the right to request changes or alter the final image before use.
- Submission should include designers' name, email address, and phone number.
- Logos must be submitted via email to [email protected] by the close of business on Friday, April 30, 2021 for consideration.
