After a little bit of a delayed start the guys have gotten their equipment in proper shape, supplies have arrived, the air conditioner is on and the grill will be sizzlin' with hamburgers.  So for all of you who were anticipating those juicy burgers and hot dogs last week the wait is over.  Friday is the opening of Wise Guys.  So let's plan on welcoming this new downtown eatery in proper Orange fashion.  See you for lunch!

Just when it seemed we were going to be without one of our favored downtown restaurant locations a good thing happens:  the opening of what promises to be an oasis for quality burgers, hot dogs and New York style delicatessen sandwiches.

A couple of local friends have pooled their talents together  and are preparing to offer Orange what I believe will make us all very proud to have within an easy walk from anywhere downtown: a good, solid eatery for quality food at an affordable price in an efficient manner: Wise Guys

In recent history, the location has changed names several times but the intent has always been to provide our downtown with a dependable place to get a good meal.  The partners of the new restaurant are betting on the fact that the downtown clientele, and visitors to town, are ready for a good, New York style burger joint.  Nothing fancy, no big hoopla, just a place with excellently portioned and prepared food, done fast and at a reasonable price.  With most of us lucky to have a half hour to get something to eat, Wise Guys is dedicated to giving the best burger (or hot dog or Italian sausage) in town for the price and get us back to work.

The dogs are Sabrett's which tout themselves as New York's no. 1 hotdog.  That's a big brag from the Big Apple.  These might very well be one of the best dogs available. They'll also be preparing Italian sausage, very close to Dominics of New York and they'll be prepared both sweet and hot. Wise Guys will be holding to their menu throughout the day including hand cut French fries, regular and sweet potato, top sirloin cheese steak sandwiches and Wisconsin cheeses.

So let's welcome these guys, these Wise Guys, with an opening of their new restaurant next Thursday.  Then maybe we'll be able to brag, as Calvin suggests, of having the best hamburger right here at home.
