Happy Holidays!
Whether you were a volunteer, a donor, or just someone who cares about our Wish Children, we would like to thank you for all of the support you have shown this past year.
As we reach the end of this year, we would like to reflect on the many accomplishments we have made as an organization. Our annual golf tournament raised record-breaking funds to support our wish kids, we held our first-ever, and soon-to-be annual online auction and we are now supporting over 60 wish families and counting!
At this time we are pleased to introduce Helen Loftin as our new Executive Director. Helen comes to us with many years of experience that we know will benefit our Wish Kids, Families and Donors
We would also like to thank both Sharon Rice, Executive Director and Joanne Grodzinski, Director of Operations for their outstanding work over the last 4 years. With their contributions, the Guelph Wish Fund has been able to serve more Wish Kids and Families as well as strengthen our organization.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, my eternal gratitude to you for your contributions, and unwavering support; and to our hardworking volunteers who made the success of this year possible. It's because of community members like you that we are able to grow our support of families in need each year.
We wish you a happy, healthy and safe holiday season and a very happy 2022 new year.

Happy Retirement and meet the new ED
Having served as dedicated staff of the Wish Fund since the fall of 2017, the time has come to say goodbye to Sharon Rice, Executive Director and Joanne Grodzinski, Director of Operations. --- Both Joanne and Sharon will be retiring in December.
We would like to take this time to formally thank both Joanne and Sharon for all their time and dedication to the Wish Fund, you will be missed!
We wish them luck and lots of rest with their well-deserved retirement!

A Note from Sharon:

"During these 4+ years with the Guelph Wish Fund for Children, my personal goal of increasing the number of children we support has been met. Beginning with 14 Wish Kids inherited from my predecessor Peter, we added approximately 96 new children during my tenure and I am very happy to note that to date, our charity has supported 438 children in Guelph and Wellington County since its founding in 1984. My role, which has included secondary school scholarship awards, community engagement and most significantly, the stewardship of the Wish Kids and families, has been one with great satisfaction, tremendous joy and immeasurable reward; one of the very best roles I have filled during my years of employment.

While I leave the organization with a sense of sadness knowing I will miss contact with you and our Wish Kids, I will have more time to read, spend in the garden, travel, resume piano lessons, and volunteer in other community endeavours, all of which I look forward to."

The Wish Fund will be in good hands --- to take on the role as the new Executive Director, please join us in welcoming Helen Loftin.
Meet Helen

On November 1st, 2021 Helen joined the Guelph Wish Fund for Children as Executive Director. Prior to her return to Guelph, she worked internationally as well as locally in a career that spans 35 years.

Helen began her career in her family construction business while maintaining a passion for approaching community and social development work from a compassionate business perspective. She subsequently received an MBA in 2005 and began her work in international economic development where she worked for over 13 years, with the Mennonite Economic Development and Associates (MEDA), in Waterloo.

Helen has worked in Guelph & Wellington County with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, and more recently with the City of Guelph, and she is thrilled to be back in town with the Guelph Wish Fund for Children.

This #givingtuesday we ask you to think locally and consider donating to a local charity.

Our focus has always been to support those in our community that need it the most. In the spirit of this Giving Tuesday we ask you to do the same.

With a small donation, you can help us make a difference in the lives of children in Guelph or Wellington County who are living with a rare, debilitating syndrome, a significant illness, or a life-altering injury.

The Guelph Wish Fund for Children, in partnership with our community (YOU), steps in to serve these children and support the family, to make the child’s life a little happier.

We work with each individual and their family to deliver the wish that’s just right for them, whether it’s a dream holiday or meeting everyday practical needs. We are a local charity that is 100% funded by our community.

When you support GWFC, you help us make life a little happier.

On #givingtuesday, give back today by helping to grant a wish!
Be part of our Grant-A-Wish program now. It’s easy – each wish costs $10,000 and we invite you to grant a full wish or a portion of one.

All donations matter!

To learn more about this program please visit https://www.guelphwishfund.com/how-you-can-help/grant-a-wish

Your donation can help a child’s wish come true. Thank you for helping us make lives a little happier!
