Nathan is very friendly and open—he loves sports and looks up to athletes who play baseball, basketball and hockey. Due to his condition, Nathan is more susceptible to illness and needs to take more frequent breaks. He doesn’t have the same lung capacity as other kids and sometimes needs oxygen support. Despite this, Nathan loves to be active and enjoys swimming, playing outside, and playing baseball. A natural sports fan—he watches sports highlights instead of cartoons—Nathan wished to meet his heroes on the Toronto Blue Jays.

Nathan and his family travelled to Toronto where he was signed to an exclusive one-day contract with the Blue Jays and toured through Rogers Centre. He met his new teammates, joined in batting practice then watched the team play from a private suite. Best of all, Nathan’s love for the game endeared him to the players, even as they in turn inspired the young fan and made his dreams come true. “I got to go on the field, go into the dugout, and all the players signed my own bat for me! They even gave me my own locker!” said Nathan.

“It was truly an amazing experience,” says Nathan’s dad. “As a huge sports fan, it is something he’ll never forget.”
The Power of One Wish
On October 2, 2019 we were thrilled to announce that Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada ®  and Make-A-Wish Foundation ®  of Canada are joining forces with the goal of granting the wish of every eligible child across the country. As one organization, our mission will be to provide children with critical illnesses the opportunity to realize their most heartfelt wish, giving them the strength to endure their treatments and build resilience.

We appreciate your ongoing support and hope you will come alongside us as we embark on this exciting new chapter towards changing the lives of even more children in Canada.
