Wishes make a difference to kids living with critical illnesses
In 2017, Liam, 15, wished to visit Walt Disney World where he and his family had the time of their lives. They were also moved by the people they met on their trip. "Liam has become inspired to 'pay it forward' by returning to Give Kids The World Village one day himself to volunteer," said his parents. "This trip meant much more to our family than just a trip to theme parks. This kind of undertaking takes a huge amount of work and organization, and we are so appreciative."

May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month and Brain Tumour Awareness Month . When children are battling a critical illness, so much of the joy of childhood is taken away from them — it is exhausting, both emotionally and physically.

Liam's dad Peter noted, "Life with cystic fibrosis is not easy. It's hard on so many levels. There are the hours of treatment each day, the multitude of pills and then there's living with the knowledge that, while science continues to make breakthroughs, you do live with a life limiting disease. It's wonderful that Make-A-Wish shares happiness and hope with kids who have been dealt a rough hand in life."

Thank you for all you do to make wishes happen for kids like Liam!
Happy Nomming
On May 4, the family of Martine Partridge launched her cookbook Happy Nomming , and are donating all proceeds from its sales to Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta.

M artine passed away in 2017 after a brave battle with cancer, and chose Make-A-Wish as the benefitting charity of her legacy project. She noted that by providing life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, Make-A-Wish provides a chance for kids to embrace their futures and dream big.

We are touched by Martine's legacy gift. You can order Happy Nomming by clicking here .
You Can Leave A Meaningful Legacy
May is Leave a Legacy Month. Legacy projects (like Happy Nomming ) or planning to include a gift in your will to Make-A-Wish ®  ensures that future generations of wish children and their families benefit from life-changing wishes. A wish can be an important turning point for a child living with a critical illness, helping them see that anything is possible – especially the future.
