Wishing Ellie a Speedy Recovery

Our thoughts are with four-year-old Ellie this week. She is undergoing orthopedic leg surgery at Scottish Rite Hospital to correct the effects from Spina Bifida. We met Ellie last week during a visit to FODAC to get fitted for a pediatric wheelchair. The chair will allow her to keep attending preschool and will provide her with independence during her 6 to 8 week recovery period. Her family was denied a wheelchair throug h their healthcare program and was happy to learn about FODAC’s Home Medical Equipment Program .

Thanks to our student volunteers! In February, we had two student volunteer teams lend some time and manpower to work in our warehouse. Both teams volunteered their Saturday to sort and inventory medical supplies, and clean home medical equipment (HME). Members of Parkview High School HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) (left) volunteer once a month to clean donated HME (home medical equipment) and prep it for inventory. Also in February, a volunteer group from Emory University Student Alliance for Health Involvement (SAHI) spent a Saturday morning sorting medical supplies in the warehouse.
