Dear Families and Partners,
We would like to wish you and your loved ones a Happy, Healthy, Safe and Joyous Holiday season. We all have been through many challenges, made sacrifices, created new ways of doing things and dealt with the unknown. We at ASCF have continued to be here for families because you and your children are very important to us and because of the support and guidance of our partners. You are all part of our efforts to dream big to help our kids have a positive outcome of a successful, happy life. We look forward to continuing together in the new year.
Have a wonderful holiday filled with peace, warmth, fun and love.
Your friends, ASCF staff and Board

What Every Child Needs For Good Mental Health

FACT SHEET: EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES: (BIRTH-AGE 3) FACT SHEET
Children develop at different paces, but there are developmental milestones that children should reach by certain times during the first three years of their lives. Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, act, and move. Track developmental milestones using CDC's "Learn the Signs. Act Early." resources.
Contact Early Intervention if:
there are concerns about a child’s development and/or
your child has a diagnosis with a high probability of developmental delay

How to Understand the Meaning of Your Child’s Challenging Behavior
As a parent or caregiver, you may see your child behave in a way that doesn’t make sense and ask yourself, “Why does she keep doing that?” It can be very frustrating, especially when it seems like it should be easy for your child to figure out on her own a more appropriate way to behave. In moments like this, it is important to remember that children continue to use a behavior because it works! Your child’s behavior is a powerful communication tool that she uses to tell you what she needs or wants.

MAMA MARIAS, ASCF's SPECIAL NEEDS PODCAST
Mama Marias is a podcast for parents and caregivers of children with special needs of any kind. It is called Mama Marias because the two hosts are both named Maria and each has a teenage daughter with special needs. It is their hope to share their experiences and knowledge, which they have gained through both tough and good times over the years. They hope to be a resource and support for families. They want parents to know they are not alone…not alone in the way they are feeling, in the things they are experiencing, and in the things they are dreaming. Mama Marias aims to bring families understanding, peace, and continued hope.
