Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you and your family! A huge THANK YOU to our new and constant supporters! 2023 was successful because of you; however, we fully intend to break last year's records with your continued assistance!

Our 2024 goals are 10% more dog adoptions, THREE more inmate scholarships, a bigger presence for Amplify Austin in March, securing more grants and monthly donors, and finding a VENUE HOST and TITLE SPONSOR for the Second Chances Mobile Art Gallery Gala. Can you help with any of those or connect us to anyone who could?

We would like to share the highlights of 2023 in this publication. Cheers to another great year!

2023 by the NUMBERS

THIRTY-NINE dog adoptions! That's the most dogs adopted in one year since the program began! Below is a collage of some of our 2023 alumni.

Ladies of Charity Lake Travis blessed us with a $10,000 grant for general operations and new scholarships! We look forward to hosting them in a dorm visit this spring so they can witness their generosity in action!

Braidee, our longest resident, went home this year with her former handler, Carrie! Braidee required ACL repair before her adoption. You contributed $1,100 to the cost of that surgery!

Not all dogs do well in the prison environmen and Reign was one of them. She has been able to stay in a commercial boarding facility thanks in part to your continued support. REIGN, is a friendly, goofy, active 2-year-old German Shepherd mix that has been overlooked this year! Can you share her to make 2024 HER year?

Amplify Austin raised $20,000, a 25% increase from 2022 including an anonymous donor with a matching $5,000 grant.

FOUR scholarships were awarded to our deserving inmates. They enrolled in Animal Care and Veterinary Assistant Courses.

Amazon's distribution warehouse in Lockhart has given us FOUR loads of dog food and supplies.

The GLIDE Foundation awarded Paws in Prison a $1,000 grant to offset our spay and neuter costs!

Bo was adopted to the founder of Wish For Our Heroes, an organization servicing members of the military. The PIP Board of Directors was invited to their October fundraising gala. Paws in Prison donated three pieces of original art for their silent auction. Read more about Bo's story in the February newsletter.

The Cutest Critter Contest raised a record-breaking $7,750, up 49% from 2022.

4imprint.com granted us branded collapsable dog water bowls that we gave away at events such as New Braunfels Pet Fest, San Marcos Prevent a Litter Pet Fest, and San Antonio IGO Library Pooch Parade.

We issued over a DOZEN memorial or honor certificates from your donations!

We started a pre-adoption program where a potential home can pledge to adopt while the pup is still in training. The adoption is completed after the dog has graduated from the program. This moves us closer to the goal of having all dogs pre-adopted shortly after entering the program, allowing us to commit to saving more dogs each year.

We received over $100 in gift cards to Chewy.

Paws in Prison hired our first Paws in Prison parolee to be our part-time social media manager to spread our mission with her unique perspective on our cause!

Miranda Lambert's Mutt Nation gave us a grant of $5,000 to be applied towards dog training.

We added two new volunteer Board members! We could still use more dedicated help!

Our faithful administrator, Sylvia, was recognized as The Volunteer of the Year by the Coleman Unit for her continued remarkable support of Paws in Prison.

We achieved a TOP rating for the third year in a row from Great Nonprofits because of your 5-star ratings!
