The Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce has been encouraging Business’s on Milwaukee Avenue to light up their storefronts for the past couple years in order to help create a more festive holiday atmosphere. This is just another effort in our goal to make Gladstone Park a destination place, a place where people come to see the festive lights and end up staying to frequent our great establishments. This year we decided to up our game and make it a competition. Dave Wians, State Farm, offered to sponsor a contest with the top 3 vote-getters winning cash prizes.
Here’s how it went:
We had 3 impartial judges: a resident, a business owner on Milwaukee Ave and a business owner off of Milwaukee Ave.
They were judged in 3 categories:
·
Light Display (Clark Griswold worthy)
·
Window Decoration: Traditional display that captured the classic Christmas motif
·
Overall Holiday Décor.
The Judges ranked each business based on a 1-5 star scale, 1 Star being good effort and 5 stars being outstanding display and being Gladstone Park Light-Fight worthy. Businesses did not need to be Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce members.
What a great response from the business community!!!
Thank you to everyone who made our community look so festive!
