Adam trudged past the gates of Eden, his head low, his feet heavy with the pain of remorse.
Suddenly he stopped. Then he spun around and exclaimed, “You had this planned! You put that fruit there knowing I would choose to eat from it! This is a plot! But tell me: Why?”
There was no reply. But we have found an answer.
Without failure, we can never truly reach into the depths of our souls. Only once we have fallen can we return and reach higher and higher without end.
Beyond Eden.

Holocaust Education Center
|
|
The new Holocaust Education Center has been busy welcoming bus loads of students from high schools across Orange County coming to learn about the harsh history of the Holocaust.
The experience educates visitors about the dangers of unchecked hatred and the critical need to prevent genocide. At the same time, they gain greater tolerance, moral courage, and personal integrity.
Students are motivated to cultivate a sense of moral responsibility—-a call to action—-in response to monumental challenges that confront our world today.
Being taught to be an “upstander”, as opposed to a “bystander” in times of need are skills that can guide them throughout their lives.
The initial debut of exhibits comprised of over 700 artifacts from Auschwitz, collected and designed by Mel Mermelstein, will rotate to highlight new items for future visits.
The Center is perpetuating the lifelong mission of legendary survivor Mel Mermelatein.
The Holocaust Education Center is now available to varied groups throughout our community. To set up a tour, or to volunteer as a docent, please email or call the center at 949.721.9800. Click here for photos

Leah and Rose always meet every week at Brent Cross shopping center and always end up having a light lunch at Benny's deli. One day over lunch, Leah says to Rose, "All we ever seem to do is talk about the unimportant things in life. Today, for example, we’ve talked about the rudeness of our local butcher, what the weather’s like in desert, and our Rabbi’s recent poor sermon. Next time we meet, why don’t we have a serious discussion on world affairs?"
"A good idea," says Rose.
So the following week, while they are waiting for their lunch to arrive, Rose says, "So lets talk already."
Leah says, "OK. What do you think about the situation with Red China?"
Rose replies, "Not much - it won’t go with your green tablecloth."

Thoughts To Light By... Like most of us, you probably are all too familiar with your past mistakes. There is unfortunately no shortage of criticism in this world. But...how familiar are you with your successes? Have you ever made a list of your amazing qualities? G-d made no mistakes when He created each one of us; and that includes our challenges. Each of us was created with unique strengths, and it's incumbent on us to reveal them and celebrate them. When lighting our candles this week, let’s take a moment to identify our strengths. When we are aware of our special gift, it helps make it shine. Shabbat Shalom!
