DECEMBER 2023

Warm Greetings!

Here is hoping this message finds you in good health, living in abundance, contentment and joy, and remembering that love, caring and sharing are indeed the “Reasons for the Season.”

Peer Plus is excited to be celebrating 22 years of service in the community. Our commencement in December 2002 has steadfastly grown to 20+ years of providing health and wellness in underserved communities. We began our work in the height of ignorance, fear and misinformation around HIV/AIDS. We listened to the voices of those individuals, loved ones, friends and family members, all deeply impacted by the virus. That profound "listening" to our community helped to crystallize the mission and vision of Peer Plus, leading us to continue providing services, referrals and relevant information for people in need.

Thanks to you, in 2023 we participated in over 30 community events and engaged with 2,000+ people who needed services. In partnership with the University of Illinois, we provided low-income women with access to transportation and free advanced 3D mammograms. We are very proud to be known as the agency with “boots on the ground,” because we take seriously the challenge of new opportunities to find and serve people where they are.

As we prepare for the holidays and reflect on each year, your financial and in-person support continue to inspire and sustain us. Your belief in and commitment to PPETA make our work possible. Thank You!

On behalf of myself and our dedicated Peer Plus Ambassadors, we wish you

A most joyful

HOLIDAY SEASON!

Be well, happy and safe. Phyllis

Did TeamExact see you at the 2023 Black Women’s Expo? We were there with our "super colon," encouraging the community to talk about getting screened.

'Tis the season when we gather to share stories and celebrate. It's also a good time to open the door for conversations with loved ones about protecting and preserving our health.

Colorectal Cancer, a disease on the rise, is preventable when caught early. This cancer, which affects the colon or rectum, ranks as the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States. Read More
