Dear Barrington 220 Community,

I know everyone is anxious to begin winter break and celebrate the holidays with friends and family. Before the last bell rings, I wanted to share some reflections on the first half of the 2023-24 school year.

We have been fortunate to partake in many celebrations over the past few months. Some of these include kicking off the school year by honoring our district’s 50th anniversary, completing major Build 220 construction projects across our school buildings, and earning the district’s 12th National Blue Ribbon Award (Arnett C. Lines Elementary).

Over the past few weeks, our school community has also experienced loss. It is during these difficult times that we lean on one another for support and realize the true strength of the Barrington 220 community.

Heading into 2024, we have much to look forward to as we continue the work on our strategic plan, Framework 220. We have already accomplished a great deal, including the decision to implement free full-day kindergarten in August 2024!

Over the next couple of weeks, my wish is for you to be truly present and enjoy your time with family and friends. Our staff will return to school on Monday, Jan. 8 and students will return on Tuesday, Jan. 9. Until then, I hope you have a wonderful winter break and I look forward to seeing you in 2024!
