As you prepare to gather for this Thanksgiving holiday, I want to extend my gratitude to each one of you for being a special part of Manna. Our recent 40th Anniversary birthday party was a great example of the warmth and support we receive from the community. The outpouring of interest and celebration truly made it a joyful occasion. Please enjoy some photos from the event below.
In other gratitude-filled news, I'm glad to share Manna’s 2023 Annual Report. This fiscal year report is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our community: our donors, staff, and volunteers who have endeavored to make a positive impact this past year, as well as all those decades before. Together, we've achieved many and marked important milestones, some of which are featured in the “Manna Memories” sections throughout the report. I hope you enjoy recollections from participants, partners, and leaders.
A resounding thanks this Thanksgiving month also goes out to the local Scout troops who supported us in Scouting for Food 2023. We partnered with 17 incredible Scouting troops, and their collective efforts resulted in the collection of nearly 50,000 pounds of food. This longstanding partnership holds special significance as we enter our busiest holiday season on record.
Lastly, I want to take a moment to highlight the upcoming Giving Tuesday. Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to foster change. This upcoming Tuesday, the team at Roberts Oxygen join me in inviting you to consider a donation to Manna Food Center. As you may have seen in the Washington Post this week, your support means that we can continue to bring fresh, nutritious, culturally relevant food to our neighbors struggling, quite literally, to put food on their tables. This Giving Tuesday, your impact will be doubled by a generous $100,000 match from the staff of Roberts Oxygen.
Please read on to learn more about the updates I shared, as well as an invitation to join our network of Community Food Rescue volunteers who help us “feed more and waste less”. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of more than 50,000 neighbors and I look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead to work towards Food for All.
Wishing you an abundant, healthy Thanksgiving!
