SPONSOR A ROOM
In order to rehab our Habitat house in Aberdeen, we're looking for room sponsors! Rooms for "sale" range from bedrooms to the small powder room. As the rooms are “sold” to donors, the “room adopters” will be promoted in various ways, as well as have the satisfaction of knowing their donation will go directly towards rehabbing this home, room by room.  Visit our website for details.

CITC TAX CREDITS AVAILABLE
Making a gift to our Financial Literacy or Aging in Place Program may save you a lot on your Maryland taxes! How does this work?

For donations of at least $500, you will receive a tax CREDIT of 50% of your gift. This is on top of the standard State and Federal tax deduction for a charitable donation. Where a deduction reduces your taxable income, thus saving you from paying taxes on that income, a Tax Credit directly reduces your taxes on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

For example, if you donate $1,000, you get the “regular” deduction for a $1,000 donation. Then you can deduct $500 from the taxes you owe to Maryland. If you don’t owe that much, you can spread it out over a few years.  For most people, donating $1,000 only takes about $145 out of their pocket.

Both businesses and individuals are eligible. You can give the donation in one lump sum, in installments, through payroll deduction or even by appreciated stock.

We sell out of these credits quickly, so contact Karen Blandford at k blandford@habitatsusq.org
to discuss how you can become a CITC donor.
DID YOU KNOW?
Read the Washington Post article about a tax break that is only available to people over 70. A little-known strategy allows people 70 1/2 or older to write off charitable donations of IRA income and still take the standard deduction.
ROOMS FOR "SALE" AT HOME REHAB PROJECT

Catch our daily (Dec 16 - 23) videos on Facebook as we give you a room by room tour of our planned rehab project -- a house on James Avenue in Aberdeen. Yvette Valentin and Dave Burja (pictured) will show you a "before" look at the interior and exterior of the house.

We're looking for sponsors to help us with the "after" look by "selling" each room of the home!

Rooms for "sale" are:

Kitchen & Dining room
Living room and foyer
Bedroom #1
Bedroom #2
Bedroom #3
Small powder room
Laundry/utility room

Thanks goes to Inner County Outreach in Aberdeen for the "purchase" of the main bathroom. Not only will their sponsorship be covering the cost to complete this bathroom, they also will be supplying accessories and providing volunteers to help construct it!

If your business is interested in being a room sponsor, contact Director of Development Megan Lally at 410-638-4434 x7240 or email at mlally@habitatsusq.org.
