With A Greater Intensity
Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. (John 3:6)
A bumper sticker reads: "Not born again; born right the first time." We were NOT born right the first time. We were born with flesh giving birth to flesh. We were concerned only about pleasures of the flesh: eating, drinking, and being merry. We were not born saved. We were born with a sinful nature; therefore, "we must be born again" (John 3:7).
Before you were born again, you did what the world did. You gave in to your sinful nature with great intensity. Now that you are saved (born again, regenerated, converted), the Holy Spirit within you gives birth to your spirit allowing you to do spiritual things.
You should have a greater intensity for serving God in the spirit than you did for serving the world in the flesh because now you have the help of the Holy Spirit.
