JEWISH COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ORANGE COUNTY, through the WEISSMAN ARTS program, knows that art is a powerful force for bringing our community together.

It is with great pride that we look back on our inaugural, month-long Artist-in-Residency, with Shirel Horovitz. Over 27 events across the County, we came together to learn, grow, and be inspired. We witnessed how art ignites conversations, bridges gaps, and unlocks creativity. Through the Weissman Arts program's reimagined collaborative approach, we have opened doors to self-expression, cultural exploration, and personal growth.

As we reflect on this incredible experience, we extend our deepest gratitude to every one of you who participated, contributed, and helped shape this journey. Your presence, passion, and willingness to embrace our new collaborative process have been the driving force behind our success. In particular, we share our gratitude to the thirty Orange County residents who participated in the newly commissioned video work by Shirel Horovitz. By stepping in front of the camera, you helped create an artwork unique to our community that will be a lasting snapshot of Jewish life in 2023.

If you missed last week's screening, the new work, Gestures: A Portrait of Jewish Orange County, will be on view at the Merage JCC through Monday, June 12, 2023.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue this artistic odyssey together. Thanks to the visionary support of the Albert Weissman & Rhoda Yvette Weissman Endowment Fund, we will foster a vibrant and dynamic Jewish community that celebrates and is drawn together by the transformative power of art.

Once again, we express our heartfelt appreciation for your support and participation. Stay tuned for upcoming events, collaborations, and opportunities to experience art together.
