Message from Tri-Bay President

Hello Mark ,

As we move past the midpoint of 2024, we find ourselves marking time with traditions that honor those closest to us. In May and June, we celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day, paying tribute to our parents in profoundly personal and meaningful ways.

Some of us may choose special activities to show appreciation, while others spend quality time with them. Those of us fortunate enough to have reasons to honor our mothers and fathers can feel truly grateful. Raising a child in today's challenging world is certainly not a task for the faint-hearted—a heartfelt salute to all the Moms and Dads out there.

I dedicate this issue to my parents, Margaret and Gerhard Bay, the pillars behind Tri-Bay Construction. Without their influence, there would be no foundation for this company.

Although my path initially veered in a different direction, the core values that guide our business today were ingrained in me during my childhood and have stayed with me ever since.

The skills and knowledge I rely on in my professional life began forming in my early years. Back then, it might have seemed like I wasn't paying attention or that those arrows missed their mark (no pun intended).

But I was not only listening—I was absorbing the wisdom and values my parents imparted, preparing to pass them on in my personal and professional encounters.

To my father, whom we lost to Alzheimer's disease ten years ago, and to my mother, who remained strong and resolute in her final days of almost 94 years,

I owe a debt of gratitude for a life richer than I ever imagined or deserved. Words fall short of expressing my thanks, but I strive to honor their legacy by embodying and sharing the same core values with everyone I meet, young and old.

My parents did everything they could to make the world a better place, and I aim to do the same.

Each day, I reflect on how I have lived out these values and consider what I have done to leave the world a better place.

With Gratitude to all the Moms and Dads!

Mark Bay, President

AI IN CONSTRUCTION: ENHANCING EFFICIENCY AND CRAFTSMANSHIP

As we progress through 2024, the construction industry continues to navigate the persistent challenges that emerged in the post-pandemic world. Workforce development and labor shortages remain vital issues, yet technological advances make construction safer and more efficient. With the advancement of AI, the industry is starting to reap benefits such as enhanced decision-making, optimized scheduling, improved risk management, and increased productivity.

While AI advancements cannot yet replace the essential human elements in construction, they are not a threat but enhancements to the existing skills within the workforce.

For instance, machines—at least not yet—cannot replicate the nuanced craftsmanship of a finish carpenter.

Machine learning, a subset of artificial intelligence, uses statistical data to solve problems and anticipate challenges more quickly than humans.

The insights gained from machine learning enhance project efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety by analyzing vast amounts of data and identifying issues that may take time to be apparent to human managers.

The advantages of AI in construction are manifold. It offers improved design alternatives, better anticipation of cost and schedule overruns, enhanced safety measures, more effective project planning, increased productivity, and insightful post-construction performance analysis, among other benefits.

These are all crucial aspects that can significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of construction projects.

Each construction project and company is unique. Identifying how AI can specifically benefit a particular company remains a challenge. Industry leaders must discover AI tools and methods that best enhance their company's operations.

Although AI is transforming the construction industry, human workers' expertise, creativity, and decision-making will always remain its core strength.

More developments at Open Road USA!

We're excited to announce that the 8,900-square-foot Restaurant/Bar design phase in Ocoee, FL, is completed and has been submitted for permitting. Construction will begin in the summer of 2024, complete in the first quarter of 2025, and open for business immediately after that.

This project involves a comprehensive renovation of an existing Bar/Restaurant that has been vacant for a couple of years, posing several challenging scenarios. Working alongside the design team led by Jass & Associates, Architect Inc. of Mt. Dora, we are overcoming those challenges. We're excited about the innovative features this establishment will offer and can't wait to share more updates as progress continues.

Stay tuned for an Open Road experience like no other!
