Dear Friends,

St. John Henry Newman once wrote, “To live is to change, and to be perfect is to have changed often.” While we may not like it very much - I could do without Daylight Savings Time, for example - change is a part of the journey of life. And since we cannot escape it, we may as well try to embrace what is from God in the changes that come to us.

Our journey of change as Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish and Queen of the Rosary School marches onward as well. As you know, Fr. Louis has been appointed as the next pastor of St. Procopius/Providence of God Parish in Chicago, beginning on July 1, 2024. I am grateful to Fr. Louis for all of his ministry and dedication as our associate pastor, and I know you all join with me in praying for him during this time of transition. We are happy for him and his new parish community, and at the same time sad for ourselves.

There are still more changes coming up for us, however. As we look forward to this year’s Graduation and end-of-year celebrations for our Queen of the Rosary School, it’s not just our 8th Graders moving on to new horizons, but also our principal, Ms. Kathy McGinn.

For the last 25 years, Ms. McGinn has been steadfastly supporting students, teachers, and staff on journeys of faith and learning. Her unwavering commitment to our parish and school community and to Catholic Education has been nothing short of extraordinary.

On behalf of our entire community, I want to express our deepest gratitude to Ms. McGinn. I thank her for her selfless service, her dedication to the well-being and growth of our students, and her exemplary leadership during times of change and uncertainty. Her legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire and shape the future of our Queen of the Rosary School. May her well-deserved retirement as our principal be as enriching and fulfilling as the impact she leaves behind.

I will keep the community updated as we enter the search and interview process for our new school leader. In the meantime, we continue to prepare our hearts to celebrate the joy of the Resurrection at Easter. And when you see Ms. McGinn around the parish, please be sure to express your own heartfelt appreciation and wish her all the best!

Yours in Christ, Fr. Dan Folwaczny
