Everyone is talking about how much we miss the sunshine. The meteorologists lead their daily reports with when we might see sunshine in the coming week. My daughter even went for a walk with me last Sunday, “Just to get a little sun.”
Take a moment to recall the sun on your face, feel the warm rays and its brightness inviting you to close your eyes and soak it in.
It is like a prayer to feel the sunshine. Our spirits thrive in the presence of God.
Like sunshine behind the clouds, in our busy distracted lives we often do not sense God with us. Our troubles and fears obstruct the good things God is pouring out upon us right now. In our cynicism we do not take time to rest in God’s love. In our restlessness we neglect simple awareness of all that God has given us.
Often it takes people in abject darkness, who face the harshest circumstances to help us to remember God.
Purported to have been found scrawled on the wall of a Jewish detention camp in K
öln, Germany, listen to this prayer or creed with your spiritual heart. Hear the faith amid deep darkness reaching out. Let God’s presence heal you, bring you hope, and restore your faith.
I believe in the sun
even when it is not shining
And I believe in love,
even when there is no one there.
And I believe in God,
even when he is silent.
We need others to help us recall the presence of God when God is silent. Imagine not having your church and others to help you.
Jesus told the disciples, "You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before others."
One way to shed our light in the world is to have a thriving parish with the financial resources needed for a strong mission. Our Annual Fund pledge drive ends this Sunday. Bring your pledge cards or make an online pledge today!
Be Thankful, Be Generous, and Let Your Light Shine!
With you on the journey,
