Many of you may know that we are struggling to pay our expenses this year - unaware that everyone who helped us with grants in the past would be in dire straits this year.
Pat LaMarche even made a go fund me to encourage folks to give in honor of her 65th birthday. (You still can, see the next story).
But this week, we received a most wonderful letter from Reverend Jay W. Eckman - a Harrisburg area pastor. We couldn't reproduce the whole beautiful message, but here are some highlights! Please read his kind words, below.
This Advent, Tree of Life Lutheran Church will join others across the globe in a simple but profound act of love through the Memorial Blanket Project. On the longest night of the year, hundreds of handmade blankets and quilts, each one stitched with care and
prayer, will cover the ground by the Denver City and County Building as community members gather to remember neighbors who have died while experiencing homelessness.
After the vigil, each blanket will be shared with someone who needs warmth and shelter through the winter nights. Already, blankets are arriving from across the country and beyond, small, tender reminders that compassion knows no borders. To support this work, Tree of Life will receive a special Advent offering to help with the costs of shipping, tariffs, and distribution. Together, our gifts become more than a donation; they become a thread in a larger fabric of care, a sign of Christ’s love made visible in the world.
With gratitude for the Homeless Memorial Blanket Project and the Colorado Coalition for
the Homeless, and for each of you who carries the light of Christ into this world,
