There has been significant progress and action taken in order to assess and improve the water flow out of the Indian Lakes Chain.
Members of the Five Lakes Association Board
are planning to kayak down the Little Elkhart River from the Mesick dam to County Line Road in order to evaluate the amount of logjams in the river, and the impact those logjams have on water flow. Officials may also use drone technology to better understand the challenges.
In late June, West Lakes Association invested in weed treatment in order to improve water flow. That treatment was very successful and improved downstream flow.
