The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

Easter and the season of spring delivers a sense of joy and renewal.  Our school has experienced both joy and renewal as we just welcomed  our students back to the school for 4th quarter!   We continue to be thankful for the opportunity to offer in person learning experiences in addition to our Home Learning opportunities for this entire school year.

As the end of this school year approaches, many are asking about end of the year activities and how will next year look. Unfortunately, I am not able to answer these questions at this point. End of the year announcements will be coming soon, since we are currently planning and refining details.  Each and every day new data and information becomes available and changes what is possible.  We continue to  talk with the teachers about what we have learned this year and what we would like to incorporate going forward.  We will soon be asking parents to fill out a survey to gain parent perspectives.

As we did last summer,  we will continue to plan and position ourselves to continue to offer safe, quality Catholic education for next year.  Please be assured that information will be shared as we move forward in planning.  Our students and families are at the heart of our school community and your trust and dedication to our school is truly appreciated.

Please note that third quarter report cards will be distributed next week on Wednesday, April 20th at Noon.

At this link is a letter from superintendent Adam Dufault about a switch that all primary schools in the Diocese of Columbus will be making over the summer from Digital Academy, our current Student Information System, to FACTS SIS.

Sincerely,
Kathy O'Reilly

World's Largest Diaper Drive
The Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Columbus are partnering with Bottoms Up Diaper Drive to participate in the World’s Largest Diaper Drive.

Bottoms Up delivers free diapers and wipes to social service agencies so that moms and families living below the poverty line are able to have access to the diapers they need for their babies. In other words, when a single mother walks into a food pantry that partners with Bottoms Up, she is assured to get the size diapers necessary for her baby. Single moms are particularly susceptible to living below the poverty line. Be sure to keep the underprivileged and marginalized in our society in your prayers as you participate in the World's Largest Diaper Drive.

In 2020 Bottoms Up delivered 556,318 diapers to over 50 community partners in Central and Southern Ohio. That’s a half million fresh, dry diapers for babies whose mothers struggle to afford the $70-$80/month it costs to keep a sufficient supply of diapers to keep their babies clean, dry, and healthy.

Bottoms Up continues to grow with very little promotion and a lot of dedication to principled charity. Diapers are collected through drives at churches, schools, and businesses or purchased through the generosity of others.

At Saint Brigid, we will collect packages of diapers in various sizes the week of April 26. If you are able to help us with this world-record setting attempt and our individual school goal of 10,000 diapers, please send in these sizes of diapers to school on April 26-April 30. Thank you!

Track & Field News
On Saturday, the St. Brigid Track and Field team competed in their first track meet of the season. While all of the St. Brigid athletes did really well, a couple of performances merit special mention.

Michael Freiburger tied the St. Brigid Reserve boys high jump record of 4 feet 8 inches. Congratulations Michael!

Also, the 4th and 5th grade girls 4x100 meter relay team of Lucy Lanier, Maddie Berg, Lily Steinbrunner and Emily Swinerton broke the oldest existing St. Brigid track and field record, which was 23 years old and has existed since 1998! They ran 1:01.32, breaking the previous record of 1:01.46. Congratulations girls!

Power of the Pen News
We have more big news from Power of the Pen! The seventh and eighth grade teams competed at the Regional tournament on March 20th. Our writers competed against 32 public and private schools from the South-Central region. We are proud to announce that the seventh grade team won third place, and the eighth grade team won first place

Because our school did so well at both district and regionals, Saint Brigid also won the first place Sweepstakes award. Our school will get to hold the Sweepstakes trophy for one year, and we believe this is a school first for us.

Three students also won individual awards:
- Hannah Stuebe, 11th place, 8th grade
- Eve Worley, 8th place, 8th grade
- Elizabeth McLaughlin, 3rd place, 8th grade

Seven out of 12 students have qualified for the online State tournament in May: Hayden Kiedrowski, Maren Reville, Ava Blackburn, Elizabeth McLaughlin, Hannah Stuebe, Madeline Tinkler, and Eve Worley.

Also competing in the Regional tournament were Marin Lynch, Will Davis, Paige Harper, Emily Mifsud, and Zachary Utt.

Congratulations to all 12 wolfhound writers!
Seventh Grade Class Newspapers of 2021
Congratulations to the 7th Grade Pods upon the completion of their class newspapers! Our students are proud to present their original articles in collaborative newspapers of their own design. Each 7th grader was tasked with advancing the goals of their team by taking responsibility for a role and using effective speaking and listening skills.
