The O'Reilly Minute

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow marks the beginning of May, the month we dedicate to honoring Mary, the Mother of our Lord Jesus. Mary was a life-giving caregiver for our Savior and remains so for us today. She serves as a powerful example of how we can say “yes” to God's Spirit of goodness in our daily lives. Many Catholics look to this beloved first disciple of Christ for inspiration and prayer.

As a school community, we will celebrate Mary throughout the month with two special events:

  • Our traditional May Crowning Mass will be held on May 15th at 9:00 a.m.
  • We will also pray the Rosary together as a school on May 13th at 2:00 p.m. in the gym.

As we near the end of the school year, I want to share some important news with heartfelt appreciation. Karol Halm, our Latchkey Director, will be retiring. Karol has devoted 11 years to lovingly caring for our children before and after school. Please join me in thanking Karol for her dedicated service and keep her in your prayers as she enters this new chapter of her life.

April is also Autism Awareness Month, and I want to thank our SPICE Committee for creating an educational slideshow to help students and families learn more about autism. As part of our effort to support passion, strength, and empowerment within the Autism Community, we will hold a RED dress-down day this Friday.

Wishing you all spring blessings,

Spring blessings,

Kathy O'Reilly

Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven,

may the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pligrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever.

Amen.

Congratulations on Retirement to Karol Halm, Latchkey Director

St. Brigid of Kildare School would like to thank Karol Halm for her eleven years of service as Latchkey Director, as she retires from her position at the end of the 2024-25 school year.

Karol has worked as the school’s Latchkey Director since 2014, where she brought her faith and dedication to our before and after school childcare program. Karol says, "Taking the position of Director of Latchkey has been such a blessing in my life. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my Catholic faith with the children and have always felt that St. Brigid has been 'home' to me. I thank God each and every day for the opportunity to be part of this wonderful community. The children have filled a special place in my heart, especially with my son, Tanner, and his wife living in North Carolina. I am truly grateful for the memories that will stay with me forever."

Her professional path started in Dental Hygiene and Education after graduating from The Ohio State University. She spent 16 years working in orthodontics before running her own residential cleaning business. Eventually, her passion for working with children led her to roles at Dublin Latchkey and Worthington Care After School, before completing her career at St. Brigid of Kildare School.

Karol is looking forward to traveling more in her retirement, starting with an Eastern Caribbean cruise in February, and spending more time with her family in North Carolina. She reflects, "Each day is a gift, and I am excited to see what lies ahead."

“I would like to express heartfelt thanks to Kathy O’ Reilly for the opportunity of a lifetime. Many thanks to Monsignor Hendricks and Father Black for their spiritual guidance over the many years. I am so blessed to have had this experience and will cherish all the memories. Thanks to all the wonderful staff, both in the past and currently. You truly made coming to work each day so enjoyable. Lamentations 3:22-23 states ‘Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.’”

St. Brigid of Kildare School is grateful for Karol’s talent and dedication at our school, and we wish her the best in her future.

Gifts of Gratitude: Year End Teacher & Staff Appreciation Gifts

What is it?

Gifts of gratitude is a program established by the Home and School Association as a united effort to provide a generous monetary gift to every teacher and staff member at Christmas and the end of the year to thank them for all they do for our children. Gifts of Gratitude is different from The Annual Fund.

Why participate?

This is a convenient way for families to make sure that each teacher, aide, and staff member who touches your child's life is recognized for all they do at St. Brigid. Instead of several small gifts from each student, each teacher and staff member will receive a monetary gift that they choose how to use.

What if I already participated at Christmas?

If your family donated to the Gifts of Gratitude program previously this school year, there is no need to donate again. We only ask for each family to donate once per school year.

Will my family be recognized for participating?

Yes -- the teachers and staff will receive a list of families who participate in this

program.

How much should I give?

The suggested annual gift amount is $25 per child, however any given amount is graciously accepted and appreciated!

Can't remember if you already contributed?

No worries -- just contact  Ana Sotillo (sinramsotillo@gmail.com) or Renee Luis (reneeluis7@gmail.com) and they will let you know!

You can find the link for Gifts of Gratitude at the button below. Choose your donation amount and that's it. It's that easy! It's such a simple way to show appreciation to your child/children's teachers and the staff at St Brigid of Kildare.

News from Our Parish & Community

Now Hiring: Parish Athletic Director

Our Athletic Association serves hundreds of families in our school and parish communities. Until now, this has been a volunteer-run organization filled with dedicated and passionate parents and committed adults. They have done an outstanding job of ministering to our children, and we are grateful for the countless hours of service.

With that being said, the time has come to hire a Parish Athletic Director who can dedicate 30-40 hours/week to leading and managing this vibrant part of our community. Father Black has discussed this with our current volunteer Athletic Director who has filled this position extremely well and he is in complete agreement that a full time staff member is a good move at this time.  We are looking for candidates who might be interested.

Please click this link to view the full job description and application details.

All candidates must be at least 21 and must be PGC/BCI compliant via completing a Protecting God’s Children training and a BCI fingerprint background check. Information on that process is available here.
