Our 23-24 school theme is:
Come to the Table: Serving God and the Community
| |
Dear Parents,
I am excited to share with you our full Back To School edition of the Wolfhound Wednesday with information regarding back to school forms, sign ups, Meet The Teacher and how to access homeroom assignments.
Our school theme for the 2023 - 2024 school year is “Come To The Table: Serving God and Community.” Our theme encourages us to think about the symbolism of coming together at a table, in particular the Eucharistic table. The imagery of the table brings forth many wonderful memories and events in our lives. Sitting at a table often brings great joy…..the joy of family gathering for game night, holidays, and healthy meals. Most importantly there is the Eucharistic table that is a part of our faith. Our First Communion class each year eagerly prepares to receive Christ in the Eucharist for the first time and in which we are able to partake in each time we attend Mass.
Tables allow us to share our experiences, create memories, receive spiritual and physical nourishment, serve others and spend time listening and learning from one another. Sharing our gifts by helping others to have food on their table and to know kindness is also a part of showing others that the table of Christ is for all. All of these opportunities are crucial steps toward cultivating a culture of kindness and community where everyone has the opportunity to flourish, belong and feel connected as brothers and sisters in Christ.

New School Visitor Management System |
St. Brigid School is pleased to announce that we will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System in our school to strengthen our campus safety for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Raptor system will allow us to do that.
The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our school and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff. Upon entering the building during school hours, visitors will be asked to present an ID such as a Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system.
The Raptor system will check to ensure that registered sexual offenders are not entering our school campuses without our knowledge. The Raptor system checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. The registered sex offender database is the only official database checked by the Raptor system. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency. Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit.
A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork.
The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor visitor management system allows us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and your support in enhancing the school safety protocols in our school.
Sincerely, Bruce McKenna

Sensory Garden Debut at Meet the Teacher |
During Meet the Teacher night, please stop by our new Sensory Garden! Thanks to generous donations from Oakland Park Nursery, John & Sheila Reiner, and our SPiCE Corks for a Cause fundraising, the Sensory Garden is nearly complete.
We will hold a ribbon cutting and blessing of the new space at Meet the Teacher night, and parents and students will be able to explore the beautiful, thoughtful new space.
What is a Sensory Garden?
A sensory garden is an environment that provides a collection of nature’s finest features that are designed to stimulate and engage the five senses. Our garden provides a completely immersive experience by focusing on the five main senses: touch, taste, smell, sight, and sound, as well as an additional sense -- vestibular (or movement).
Sensory gardens offer a calm space where all children can relax and enjoy the surroundings by providing visual, auditory, and/or tactile stimulation. It is also a space that provides flexible and environmentally responsible learning for all students, while also enhancing the social-emotional well-being of others.
Come see the new space and learn about the many thoughtful features for our learners.
