The O'Reilly Minute

Dear Parents,

Christmas break is fast approaching and it is time to reflect and appreciate that we have had a great month of Advent Joy.  There have been many blessings, opportunities for service and gratitude, time to pray and to sing, and also time to just have fun.  Each morning we prayed together as a school community the Advent wreath prayers asking God to help us prepare our hearts, minds and souls for Christmas. Thank you to our students, families, Home and School Committees, teachers and staff who have all shared their talents, faith in action and generous spirit to help make this a joyous and prayerful Advent season. In particular I would like to recognize our 8th grade Service Committee for working with our Home and School Outreach Committee to orchestrate a project to benefit Ronald McDonald House.  The 8th grade student committee is planning to visit Ronald McDonald House to deliver the handmade stockings and stocking stuffers.  (It is not too late to contribute to project…details are in the story below)

Today we have enjoyed a PJ and popcorn and movie day and next Monday, December 19th  students are invited to participate in the Ugly Sweater Day or dress in Christmas colors or a Christmas sweatshirt/sweater.  Also on Monday  we will be recognizing our athletes who participated in Fall sports.  We will be holding a Pep Rally at 2:00 pm in the gym.  Parents are welcome to attend.

Next week we will conclude our Advent preparations with an Advent Prayer Service on Tuesday, December 20th at 1:45 pm PM in the gym.  Feel free to attend if your schedule allows.

May your days be filled with love, peace, hope and joy this Christmas season.

As always, thank you for your support of Saint Brigid of Kildare School.

Merry Christmas!

Kathy O'Reilly

P.S.  Parents: Please note that Salad Bar will not be available next week...we will only be serving hot lunch December 19th and 20th.

Christmas Festivities

We have been having so much fun in anticipation of Christmas! Our Home & School sponsored 12 days of Gifts of Gratitude with special treats and festive dress days has been fun for staff and for students to watch! On Monday, we had a surprise visit from the Grinch who stopped by all the grades and gave children a green lollipop. Today students are enjoying PJ, popcorn and a movie day.

Lost & Found - Come Get It!

Parents, this Christmas give yourself the gift of . . . your child’s items returning home to you! While you’re dropping off, picking up, volunteering, or attending a child’s performance during December, please check out the lost and found items that are organized in the cafeteria beneath the trophy case. We’re hoping all items will be claimed soon so that a smaller, permanent system for lost and found can be established. Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund: Donate by Dec 31

Thank you for the overwhelming support of the Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund, a diocesan fund that uses 100% of your donation for tuition assistance for children enrolled in our Catholic Schools.

This fund is a new state program that allows donors to receive a tax credit on their Ohio tax return up to $750 ($1,500 if married and filing jointly).

What does that mean for you?

This typically means for an individual who earns $45,000 in Ohio, he/she can expect to pay $761 in Ohio income tax. If that individual donated $750 to Emmaus by December 31, they would owe the state only $11. If the tax had already been paid, the state will issue a refund to that taxpayer. Make sure you consult a tax advisor if you are unsure of your tax liability.

We wanted to remind you to take advantage of this program by December 31, 2022 so that you will receive the tax credit reimbursement of your donation on your 2022 tax returns.
