Christmas Train Thank You

The students have enjoyed seeing each day Papa Jack with his electric train and village. It has been a great hit with all the kids - young and old alike! The train has brought joy each day and it has also been an exciting part of many parish activities including Cookies with Santa, Sunday preschool, and the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast.

We owe a very large thank you to Mike and Marty at The Train Station on Indianola Avenue. When our two engines went down for the count they very generously gave us a loner in order for the students to enjoy the train until Christmas break. Please remember The Train Station if you are in the market for an electric train or accessories.

STEM Challenge

STEM is a term that you hear thrown around so often right now... it is an acronym for:

Science
Technology
Engineering
Math

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Mrs. Asencio (tech teacher) and Mrs. DeSocio (library teacher) conducted some exciting STEM challenges with kindergarten, first, and seventh grade. They were blown away by the creativity and innovation shown by these future inventors and engineers. See the pictures below to see trees, towers, and even an elf bunk bed!

Winter Uniform Exchange

There will be a  uniform  exchange on  Sunday February 11 from 9 am - noon in Enke Hall. This will be at the same time as the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast. Any family can attend the  uniform  exchange to pick up  uniforms they need, no cost. It's simple -- just show up, look through the  uniforms and leave with what you need.

If dropping off gently used  uniforms please mark each item with its appropriate size.
Annual Fund Contributions

Thank you to all of the families who have already sent in their yearly contribution to the Annual Fund. Our goal is to have 100% participation from each family in our school. Families with students in grades K-8 are asked to contribute $100 per student, and preschool families are asked to make a donation of their choice.

Did you know?

The Annual "FUNd" is used to pay for the FUN things our children get to participate in throughout the school year like Barn Bash, classroom parties, and of course, Fields Trips! Each grade will have the opportunity to enjoy an age-appropriate field trip during the year, and the Annual Fund makes this possible. Without your support, memories made from these great events would not be made.

Please contact Molly Seago (   [email protected]   ) or Candie Williams (candie@ thewilliamsemail.com with any questions.

Box Tops for Education Contest

Cut out and collect those Box Tops! Home and School Association will start a school wide contest beginning now through February 16th. Send Box Tops into school to help St. Brigid earn cash through the Box Tops for Education program.

Goal: 3,500 Box Tops to be collected.

Prize: Dress Down Day will be awarded in March!

EPIC Upcoming Events

January Meeting:

Our next EPIC youth group will be January 21, when we will host the Downs Syndrome Association of Central Ohio's (DSACO) school-aged social group. Our EPIC kids will be the hosts and big buddies of the kids with Downs Syndrome, and will lead each of the fun stations that they will visit, including games, an obstacle course, a dance station, and a sensory station. They will also serve snack to the kids and their parents.
If you know of someone grades k-6 with Downs Syndrome, please invite them to our event and let Kim VanHuffel know, so she will have an idea how many kids to plan for. The more the merrier! It should be a fun day for the kids and will be a great introduction to DSACO for them and their parents as well.

As always, we will begin with 12:15 p.m. Mass by the baptismal font and then come to Hendrick's Hall for pizza prior to our guests arriving. Pickup will be at 4:15 p.m. Please RSVP to Kim.

EPIC Registration:

If you have a child interested in joining EPIC, don't worry, it is never too late to join! EPIC is for all 7th and 8th graders of the parish. Simply go to the parish website at stbrigidofkildare.org, and select "Youth" and "Middle School Youth Group" from the drop down menu. Then fill out the online registration form at the bottom of the page under "links." There is no fee to participate. If you have questions, contact Kim VanHuffel at [email protected].
