Back to School

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow we celebrate the Feast of St. Nicholas.  The legend of Saint Nicholas is a beautiful way to help teach our students the importance of generosity and selfless giving. Saint Nicholas always makes a special appearance at Saint Brigid School and leaves candy cane treats for all of the students. I can't wait to see how Saint Nicholas will surprise the students this year!

Please plan to join us next week for the Taize prayer service on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:30 pm in the church.  This is a special opportunity to spend some quiet time in prayer as a family.

For families with children in grades 4 - 8 we are continuing our focus on strengths by taking a "Positive Perspective".  Parents received a "Home Connection" worksheet in last week's Friday Folder. Please send the post it note list back to school to share on our positivity board.  We truly appreciate the opportunity to connect our work in school with discussions and learning opportunities at home!

Next week is the first planning meeting for our annual Corks for a Cause event. There are many opportunities for families to support SPiCE through this event, please see the story below for information.

Due to a technical glitch, our December sign up list for study tables was removed. If you signed up, please use this link to sign up for December after-school study tables again. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Advent Blessings,
Kathy O'Reilly

Have you contributed to Gifts of Gratitude?
Gifts of gratitude was established by the Home and School Association as a united effort to provide a generous monetary gift to every school and parish teacher and staff member at Christmas and the end of the year to thank them for all they do for our children.

Why participate?
This is a convenient way for families to make sure that each teacher, aide, and staff member who touches your child's life is recognized for all they do at St. Brigid. Instead of several small gifts from each student, each teacher and staff member will receive a monetary gift that they choose how to use--whether they want to splurge on themselves or help with their own family's expenses.

Will my family be recognized for participating?
Yes -- the teachers and staff will receive a list of families who participate in this
program.  You may also let the teachers and staff know that you participated in the program by marking "G.O.G" inside your Christmas card.

How much do I give?
The suggested annual gift amount is $25 per child once a year, however any given amount is graciously accepted!

Questions or can't remember if you've given yet for this year?

PARISH NEWS
SPICE Corks for a Cause
March 2, 2019

Corks for Cause wine tasting and silent auction is the parish's biggest event. All  proceeds benefit SPICE (Special People in Catholic Education). SPICE supports  the education of children with special learning needs in our parish and school. We
believe that each child in our parish is a child of God and possesses his or her own
unique spiritual and educational needs.

The event is planned by a committee. Being on the committee is a great way to get involved in the parish and meet new people. We will be holding the first committee meeting on Thursday, December 13th after 9:00 school Mass (about 9:45 am) in Hendricks Hall. Being a part of this event is a fun and fulfilling experience. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Moore in the parish office at 614-761-3734 or at sarahmoore00@hotmail.com.

Sign up to be on the committee email list
