The O'Reilly Minute

Dear Parents,

As we prepare to celebrate the Feast of Saint Nicholas, we are excited to share the wonderful plans we have for your children and our school community. This special day will focus on Saint Nicholas’ generosity and his love for children, while encouraging our students to embody these virtues through service and faith. Below are the details for the upcoming events:

Friday, December 6th – Feast of Saint Nicholas

  • Saint Nicholas’ Arrival:
  • Saint Nicholas will arrive at our school on horseback, a joyous start to the day!
  • Service Projects:
  • Students will work with their buddies on three meaningful service activities:
  1. Luminaries and signs for the Illumi-Nite event (grade 3 with 8th). Learn more at Illuminite.
  2. Popsicle stick snowmen for the Seeds of Caring organization (grade 4 with preschool as well as Kindergarten with grade 5)
  3.  Handprint door wreaths for Dublin Retirement Village (grade 1 with 6th as well as grade 2 with 7th)

Monday, December 8th – Feast of the Immaculate Conception

  • The entire school will attend Mass in celebration of this holy day. You are welcome to join us if your schedule permits.  Sign up to attend with the link in the Friday folder.
  • Please note that we will not attend Mass on Thursday, December 11th.

In closing I would like to draw your attention to the very important update regarding Safe Environment and background checks.  See the story below regarding the updated requirements for volunteering in the Diocese of Columbus.  As a convenience, in order to help our volunteers be compliant, we are hosting the Fast Fingerprint association here on our campus over the next couple of weeks.

May the blessings of Saint Nicholas and Saint Brigid be with you and your family during this holy season.

Kathy O’Reilly

Prayer to Saint Nicholas

Loving and gracious God,

The bold faith of your gentle servant Nicholas

Teaches us generosity,

How to care for others

And to share what we have.

Give us strength and courage

To be faithful to Jesus

By following Nicholas’s example,

So our lives, like his, will reflect your love,

Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Important Update for All Volunteers: Safe Environment Policy Change

Beginning January 1, 2026 the Diocese will implement an update to the Safe Environment Policy.

Previously, volunteers completed fingerprinting only once. Starting in January, all volunteers and parish employees (school staff already follow this) must renew fingerprinting every five years to remain compliant.

You do not need to retake the Protecting God’s Children (PGC) class — it remains “one and done.”

This update helps ensure that all adults who work with minors or vulnerable adults have up-to-date background checks. To avoid delays, please act early.

  • If it’s been more than five years since your last fingerprinting, schedule a new one soon.
  • If you’re unsure when you last completed fingerprinting, please login to your Virtus account to see your dates. If you are having trouble logging in, then please let Brad Marzullo (bmarzullo@stbrigidofkildare.org) know.
  • For step-by-step instructions and fingerprinting locations, visit:

Important: Fingerprinting results must be sent directly to the Diocese (Catholic Diocese of Columbus Safe Environment Office, 197 E. Gay Street, Columbus, OH 43215). Please do not send copies to St. Brigid.

We will host FastFingerprints sessions onsite for convenience (fees still apply).

The donor then receives a dollar-for-dollar non-refundable tax credit on their Ohio state tax return up to $750 ($1,500 if married and filing jointly).

This program helps make Catholic education accessible and affordable while giving donors the power to put their tax dollars to work to lead children to an encounter with Christ.

The purpose of the program is to provide students with an opportunity to work on their school assignments in a quiet, respectful and supportive study environment. This is not intended to be a tutoring program. However, students will receive help with homework, build study skills and learn to plan and manage their time. If a student is not able to work quietly and productively, he/she will not be allowed to attend study tables in the future.

After each Study Table, students will be escorted to the front of the building for pick up promptly at 4:00. Please be on time to pick up your child.

In the Season of Giving, Don't Forget to Give Your Gift to the Annual Fund

The Annual Fund is the gift that keeps on giving throughout the year, that you never have to return, and fits any size. Thank you to all those who have already remembered to give their gift to the Annual Fund. Over 194 families from our school have supported this important effort, contributing a total of $39,025 towards our $50,000 goal. It is through your generosity that our children benefit from school programs throughout the year. This month, the Home and School have so many fun activities planned for our children.

Please consider making an Annual Fund donation today. If you have friends or family members who would like to contribute, we are also able to receive gifts from other individuals committed to the education of our children. Please forward this email. Thanks again for your support.

Thank you to our many families who have already supported the 2025-26 Annual Fund (as of November 30, 2025).

Giving Tree Returns

The Giving Tree Project has been a parish tradition and demonstration of generosity for many years. Last year, over 1000 gifts and $13,000 in donations were provided by your generosity, making a significant difference in the lives of others.

This year, our parish will be collecting for the following organizations: Bishop Griffin Resource Center, Gladden Community House, Heinzerling Community, Kentucky Mission, St. Stephen’s Community House, St. Brigid Emergency Fund, and Catholic Social Services.

How you can participate:

  • Select an ornament from the trees set up in the church which began on Saturday, Nov 15 and Sunday, Nov 16.
  • Choose from a list of gifts on the Giving Tree SignUpGenius on the parish website.
  • Make a monetary donation online through the St. Brigid website or by check to the Parish Office.
