Dear Parents,

The St. Brigid of Kildare SPiCE program recognizes that each of our parish children is a unique individual with different learning needs.  The SPiCE program supports serving the educational needs of our children in both the school and religious education programs.

Working together with the support of the SPiCE program, the parish community, pastor, school administration, teachers and parents can help to provide understanding, information, materials, and staff to address special educational needs.

SPiCE is funded by generous donors and volunteers.  Our signature event, Corks For A Cause, is on the horizon.  Please consider attending the event and/or volunteering to support our SPiCE program.  Read below for more information. Also, please make sure to support our sponsors for the event who are listed below.

Watch your email tomorrow for a SPiCE survey coming from Karri Brady (SPiCE Co-Chair) from [email protected]. Our SPiCE Advisory Board has collaborated on this survey to gain information of our parents' awareness and understanding of our SPiCE program, and to get feedback for further improvements. It will be a great help to our program if you spend just a few minutes completing the short survey.

Thank you for your support of SPiCE!

Blessings,
Kathy O'Reilly

Wellness Wednesdays
In the last few weeks, OSU Medical Dietetics students have had the pleasure of introducing "Wellness Wednesdays" during lunch time, as well as discussing nutrition, exercise, and sleep with the 3rd and 4th grade classes. They taught students about Go, Slow, and Whoa foods and assigned the Nutrition Challenge. Along with the help of the kitchen staff, they introduced a variety of yogurt dips and played "Guess the Hidden Vegetable" during smoothie taste testing with the students.

Thank you to all the parents for encouraging their children to participate in the nutrition challenge and for continuing your support!

For those who would like to try these tasty smoothies at home, here are the recipes:
  • Blueberry Banana Smoothie: 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1 banana, 1 cup spinach, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
  • Pineapple Orange Smoothie (non dairy): 1 cup frozen pineapple, 1 cup shredded carrots, 1 cup orange juice

Altar Server Training - Mar 3
All students in the fifth grade and older are  invited to become Altar Servers for the Weekend and Holy Day Masses.

Is the Lord calling upon your son or daughter to serve? Have them answer that call by becoming an Altar Server!

Attend one short training session, study one short section from the Liturgical Ministry Manual, receive three mentoring sessions with an experienced Altar Server, and they will be ready to serve the Lord as an Altar Server. What a wonderful, rewarding service!

Our next training session for Altar Servers is March 3, 2019,  Sunday afternoon in the Church from 3:00pm until 6:00pm.  Please register by February 28th, so we can be prepared to welcome you.

To register online, please click here.

For more information please contact Todd Pep e at [email protected].

Congrats Basketball Teams
