Dear Parents,
Saint Brigid School is proud to be able to offer several different opportunities for tuition grants, tuition assistance, and scholarships. Last year we re-imagined the Oak Society to include all three of these components and we were able to successfully implement the program with over 150 families participating in spite of COVID closings.
All three components of the program are being offered again this year and we are pleased with the participation so far.
-
I am happy to announce that the Oak Society Grant notifications email letters are being sent out today. The deadline for acceptance of the grant is March 3rd.
-
A reminder to families wanting to apply for the FACTS tuition assistance program that you need to submit all paperwork by Mark 15th. More details are in the story below.
-
The Oak Society Scholarship program will be opened for applications beginning on March 24.
February 24 - March 3rd is “Interim Reporting Week,” teachers in K - 8 will send emails, request a conference call, or make a phone call to any parent of a student with an academic, social emotional, or behavioral concern that was not addressed during the Student-Led Conferences. Also, in the spirit of partnership, parents are welcome to contact teachers at any time if you have a question or concern regarding your child’s academic, social, emotional or spiritual development.
In closing, I would most importantly like to invite you to join our K-8 students virtually in Eucharistic Adoration tomorrow (February 25th). Bishop Brennan has asked all parishes and schools to participate in a special program this Lent: 40 Days of Adoration - Real Presence, Real Future. Please read more details in the story below.
Please note we will have a school safety drill on Tuesday, March 2. Please contact Bruce McKenna (mr.mckenna@stbrigid-school.org) if you have any questions.
May the blessings of Saint Brigid be with you this Lent,
Kathy O'Reilly

Saint Brigid of Kildare Students Participate in Diocesan 40 Days of Adoration
|
Saint Brigid of Kildare School students in grades K-8 will join with our parishioners to participate in our diocesan 40 Days of Adoration during the Lenten season. This initiative, started by Bishop Brennan, joins together all members of our parishes and schools in experiencing our Lord Jesus in this most profound and intimate way. Our parish and school have been assigned the dates of February 25th and March 5th. On these two days, our school students will participate in continual Eucharistic adoration from 9:30-2:40, as each pod takes a 5-20 minute turn to virtually pray in the presence of Jesus via our chapel livestream. Please join with us as we quiet ourselves and turn to prayer with our friend and Lord Jesus.

The Annual Fund Contributions
|
The St. Brigid of Kildare Annual Fund is the way our Home and School Committee is able to provide all the extras that make the St. Brigid experience special for our children, teachers and staff.
During Catholic Schools Week the ice cream treats, the supplies and materials for the craft for the St. Brigid Feast Day parties and the Teacher Appreciation Lunch were all made possible because of the generosity of the parents that gave to the Annual Fund.
This year, we have raised $38,020 from 193 families. Our goal is $45,000 which is what the H & S committee needs to fund their activities.
If you have not donated please consider giving to the Annual Fund so we can continue to provide the best experience for your children. Thank you to everyone that has supported this important program.

Congrats Wolfhound Power of the Pen Team!
|
The 7th and 8th grade Power of the Pen team competed in a virtual District tournament on Saturday morning. Students had to respond to surprise prompts and write three short stories in under 40 minutes each. They competed against 19 other public and diocesan schools, and the top 50% will qualify for Regionals in March. We are in suspense while we wait to get tournament results sometime this week.
The seventh grade team included Will Davis, Paige Harper, Hayden Kiedrowski, Emily Mifsud, Maren Reville, Zachary Utt, and alternate Claire Heise.
The eighth grade team included Ava Blackburn, Marin Lynch, Elizabeth McLaughlin, Hannah Stuebe, Madeline Tinkler, and Eve Worley.

Celebrating the Year of St. Joseph
|
With the Apostolic Letter Patris corde (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis recalled the 150th anniversary of the declaration of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father proclaimed a "Year of St. Joseph" that began on December 8, 2020 and ends on December 8, 2021.
St. Joseph's feast day is on March 19. Our school will be attending virtual school Mass that day, and will also be receiving St. Joseph Holy cards.
For a short reflection and prayer video, click the link below. We will be featuring one short prayer to St. Joseph each week during Lent.

All travel guidance is subject to change as the pandemic progresses. Consult these ODH and CDC websites for current requirements if travel is anticipated.
