The O'Reilly Minute

Dear Parents,

This coming Sunday marks the beginning of Catholic Schools Week! This is our annual celebration of what makes Saint Brigid of Kildare School outstanding and how we are sowing Seeds of Hope in our community. Starting with Mass on the weekend of January 25/26, we have a whole week of activities planned to show what our students are accomplishing and to celebrate our faith community. See daily details and events below. There are several To Do items to mark on your family calendar.

Student-led conferences will take place next week. Please use the Sign Up Genius located in the story below.

Our students and teachers have worked very hard this first half of the year and there is much to celebrate! Please keep in mind that both parents and teachers are encouraged to initiate communication any time during the year if there is a student concern or a question. We believe that it is better to address a student concern or clarify a situation in a timely manner rather than wait for a scheduled conference time. You may contact teachers via email or leave a phone message in the school office at 718-5825. Faculty emails can be found using the quick link in the Wolfhound Wednesday or on our website at https://stbrigidofkildare.com/staff/

In closing, I ask for your prayers today as we celebrate and honor the life and legacy of my Dad, Jack O'Reilly, with a funeral Mass at St. Paul Parish this morning. He was an avid supporter of Catholic education and was generous with his time and resources to many different Catholic schools, parishes and SPICE. He also never missed reading the O'Reilly Minute each Wednesday morning at 10:00 am.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May he rest in peace. Amen.

Sincerely,

Kathy O'Reilly

Catholic Schools Week 2025

The Catholic Schools Week theme is “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community.” Catholic schools have an irreplaceable role in the Church’s evangelizing mission. Building on the central goal of Catholic schools to form saints, Catholic schools teach and embrace the whole person, body, mind and spirit. The fact that all members of a Catholic school community share the Christian vision of faith that Christ is the foundation of Catholic education is what unites the school as a faith-filled community.

Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven,

may the faith you have given us in your son,

Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of

charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy

Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope

for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us into tireless

cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform from within

both humanity and the whole cosmos in

the sure expectation of a new heaven and

a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil

vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken

in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the

treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread the joy

and peace of our Redeemer throughout

the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory

and praise for ever.

Amen

Cereal Box Collection

From our 8th Grade Faith & Service Committee:

The last week of January is Catholic Schools Week. For Catholic Schools Week, the 8th Grade Faith and Service Committee are looking for your help in donating cereal boxes to help people in need. We are asking every student and staff member to bring in one box of cereal to help us meet our goal of 750 boxes.

We will be collecting cereal starting Monday, January 27th through Wednesday, January 29th. Wednesday is the National Day of Giving. We will line up the cereal boxes throughout the school to create a giant domino display. We hope that every student and staff member will contribute to our domino extravaganza supporting those who may not be able to afford a good meal every day.

SPiCE Committee Meeting Jan 23

The next SPiCE Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, January 23rd at 6pm in Hendricks Hall.

SPiCE has had a very successful year of awareness and inclusion, and is looking forward to moving forward with more plans and creating new experiences for students, families, staff, and parishioners at St. Brigid.

As always, we welcome all people, and they do not need to have a child on a plan or with special needs to be a part of SPiCE.

SBAA New Sports Survey

The St. Brigid Athletic Association (SBAA) is very excited about a few new possible opportunities in athletics. The diocesan sports offerings have recently expanded, so we want to survey our St. Brigid of Kildare Parish community to gauge interest in bringing some of these new sport opportunities to our parish.

This survey is open to all parents of youth in our parish and school. Please take a minute to complete it at the link below.

Semi-Annual Uniform & Spirit Wear Exchange Feb 23

Shoppers, sign up here: Winter 2025 Uniform and Spirit Wear Exchange. This sign up contains more information about the exchange and signing up ensures you’ll receive a reminder to attend. Everything is FREE and you don’t need to donate to attend. Prospective families are also welcome to come to start their wardrobe and seek answers to uniform questions. If you need items, but can’t attend, let a friend shop for you!

Have items to donate? If you have gently used items for the uniform and spirit wear exchange you have a few options for drop-off:

  1. At the school office beginning Feb 3 during school hours
  2. At a bin outside Erin Heise’s home at 6588 Wynwright Dr Dublin OH Feb 15-21
  3. Bring them with you to the exchange if the other options don't work for you, but please help us put them out.
  4. If you have a ripped jumper or logoed item, please still donate it as we can use it for spare parts (buttons, crest, elastic, etc.)! Similarly, if you have gym jackets without logos, we will try to find crests to add to them
  5. Leftovers will be given to the Bishop Griffin Center.

Volunteer. Volunteers are needed to organize the exchange, help others find items, and to clean up and pack items for donation at the end of the exchange. If you are free, please sign up here:  Winter 2025 Uniform and Spirit Wear Exchange Volunteer Sign Up
