The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

Happy New Year with the wish that 2021 will be filled with many blessings and with great hope! As the routine of back to school and work takes place this week, it is time to start planning ahead to a busy January.

Please start planning for the following January events:

  • Zoom parenting workshop series called Surviving in Trying Times (see more datails below).  The presenter, Sarah Buffie worked with our staff in August on the topic of Trauma-Informed Care to help prepare us for our work with our children this school year.  Sarah’s presentation was one of the best I have ever attended, so I feel very strongly that this would be time well spent.   The first session is this coming Thursday from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.  Please RSVP here. Session 2 will be offered on January 14th and Session 3 on January 28th.

  • Virtual Open House for interested new families will take place this Sunday, January 10th.  Please invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers to consider enrolling their children in our school.  More information is below.

  • Current family re-enrollment will take place starting next week on Wednesday, January 13th. More information will be forthcoming.

  • School will be closed January 15 - 18th for a Wellness Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

  • Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated the Week of January 31st and will include activities to also celebrate our 25th Anniversary.  More details to follow.
One of our many blessings for 2021 includes celebrating the birth of new staff babies! Congratulations to 1st-grade teacher, Mrs. Megan Sobecki and her husband Jeff on the birth of their identical twins, Charlotte Marie and Emma Beth. They were born on January 4th and all are doing well!

Another one of our blessings is that our preschool was able to move into their Arks! Our preschool classes have been in temporary quarters in the church since late September while awaiting the final preparations of their new space. We passed all final inspections on December 31st...a great way to celebrate the new year for our preschool! Thank you to Mr. Jake Groce and his team and to our preschool staff for preparing the spaces to be ready to open on January 4th!

On behalf of our staff, I would like to thank our school families for your support, Christmas photos, kind notes, prayers, gifts and the generous Gifts of Gratitude program. We are so thankful for your on-going generous and loving support of our school community.

It is my hope that 2021 will be filled with many blessings and our families and staff will have a healthy, happy and hope-filled new year,

Kathy O’Reilly

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Parenting Workshop: Surviving in Trying Times - Tomorrow!
Crucial Conversations will be hosting an upcoming Zoom parenting workshop series called Surviving in Trying Times.

Anyone else feel like they are in survival mode these days? Do you ever have full, happy days where you forget the chaos of the outside (or inside) world? Either way, we are all in the thick of it and one thing that makes it tougher is trying to do it all alone. So, let’s not try to do it alone. In this series we will be inviting families to come together in a supportive learning environment in order to engage with one another and with practices that help us not just survive in trying times, but thrive. We all have the capacity to cultivate safer relationships with ourselves and others. The key is practice. And practicing within the context of community makes it that much sweeter.

Please join us via this Zoom link on the following dates:
  • Thursday, January 7, 7-8:30 PM
  • Thursday, January 14, 7-8:30 PM
  • Thursday, January 28, 7-8:30 PM

Sarah Buffie, Founding Director and Trauma Responsive Care Trainer of Soul Bird Consulting will be providing a series of parenting workshops via Zoom for our St. Brigid of Kildare community. Sarah recently worked with our St. Brigid of Kildare School teachers and staff to learn about trauma-informed care and how to apply empathy as it relates to our students' lives and learning. Sarah's trainings disrupt current models of thinking by building empathy and understanding around the effects of trauma and systems of oppression.

These workshops will include small group discussion and will build on each other (so it's beneficial to attend them all, but not required).

School COVID-19 Cases and Guidelines Update
Face Mask 2
During Christmas break, our school community experienced 9 student cases and 4 staff cases of COVID-19. These cases were reported as a group to Franklin County Public Health (FCPH) and have also been added to the school COVID-19 Dashboard today as a group. There were no known school contacts to notify since school was not in session.

FCPH COVID-19 exposure quarantine guidelines were recently updated to reduce the number of days from 14 to 10. St. Brigid published materials will reflect these changes in the near future. A negative test during a quarantine period will still not allow for early discontinuation of quarantine. This infographic will help you understand appropriate quarantine in a variety of scenarios.
