WOLFHOUND WEDNESDAY
June 1, 2022
Our children had a great time on Friday with Wolfhound Field Day! Though the rainy weather moved us (mostly) indoors, the children had a great time playing games and having a picnic-style lunch!
The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

As the year draws to a close on Friday, June 3rd, I would like to once again invite everyone to our closing school liturgy at 9:00 AM. Following Mass, we will be recognizing our school staff who have served 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years at our school. The day will close at 1:00 PM with early dismissal (Please note the change from our regular 1:30 PM early dismissal).

Next week will be our final regular Wolfhound Wednesday for the school year. However, periodically during the summer months there will be a Wolfhound Wednesday with summer updates.

At this time I have a few staff announcements. As the 2021-2022 school year closes we say goodbye to Mr. Nick Byorth, Mrs. Christine Gutridge and Mrs. Sarah Wolfe. We wish them all the best as they begin a new phase of their career journey. Brittany Ford is sharing the good news that she is taking a one-year leave to prepare for a new baby girl! We also wish Mrs. Allison Mensching all the best as she moves to Atlanta, Georgia to be with her husband as he accepts a new position with his company.  Congratulations to our preschool teacher, Mrs. Deb Funk and to our Safe Environment Coordinator, Stacey Nerone. Mrs. Funk is retiring after serving 20 years in our preschool and Mrs. Nerone is retiring after serving 14 years in helping to keep our school and parish safe. Thank you to Mr. Jackson Keister (Latchkey), Ms. Shannon O’Neil (Latchkey) and Mrs. Teri Squillace (Aide) as they depart after serving as members of our dedicated support staff. When more staff news is available we will publish it in a summer Wolfhound Wednesday.

We have prayed, we have studied, and we have played, and now it is time to take our summer break to renew, refresh and prepare for the 2022-23 school year.

Thank you for a great year and on behalf of the entire school faculty and staff, we wish you a restful, prayerful and fun-filled summer.

Summer Blessings,
Kathy O'Reilly

Wolfhound Field Day
Despite the rainy weather, our students and teachers made the most of the day and had a fun-filled field day indoors! We had super games and activities in the gym, in Enke Hall, and a picnic-style lunch! Thanks to all who helped make it a great day full of smiles!

Become a New Family Mentor
Home and School is currently looking for parents to sign up to be on the New Family Welcome committee. This entails being a mentor to a new family for the next school year. Mentor families will attend the new family welcome breakfast (scheduled for Sunday, August 21), and also need to be available to check in with their new family monthly and be available to answer any questions and assist with their transition. Mentors will be paired up with new families with children in the same grades.

If you are interested in being a new family mentor, fill out the short form below.
Read-a-thon/Walk-a-thon Recap
The seventh and eighth graders completed the first annual Read-a-thon/Walk-a-thon last Tuesday. Thanks to the generosity of middle school parents and students, we exceeded our goal and raised $1,610.35 for Catholic Relief Services; as a result, we were able to buy a water well, water pump, family wash station, and two hand washing stations.

Our students also exceeded our expectations during the Read-a-thon itself. They walked or ran over 194 miles, read more than 1,000 pages, and 35 students ran a full 5k (or more) on Tuesday. We are so proud of our students for using their time, talents, and gifts in service of others!

These activities are all strongly encouraged to ensure readiness for the next school year. Check the packet instructions for any required components.
