Dear Parents,
The season of Lent offers many opportunities for all of us to take time to reflect and use the traditional Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving as a way to grow together as a family. The Diocese of Columbus Office for Social Concerns has offered a one page document with ideas for families. Please take a moment to review
this document and perhaps incorporate an idea or two into the Lenten journey for your family.
As a school community we will spend extra time in prayer and reflection by attending the Stations of the Cross. You are invited to join us for the Stations of the Cross on the following dates:
- March 9, 2:00 PM
- March 20, 2:00 PM
- March 31, 2:00 PM
- March 8, 2:00 PM
As a parish community there are many Lenten activities being offered this year.
Please click here to learn the soup suppers, Taize prayer and penance service.

CARE Meeting & Hope Hollow Service Project
|
Last Thursday, we held our February CARE meeting, that brought to its culmination a service initiative we had begun weeks ago. In January, students learned about Hope Hollow and the mission of this faith-based organization to provide "welcome, hospitality, and hope to cancer patients and their loved ones, who are financially in need, while coming to Columbus for cancer treatments." Then, in their classes, students decorated prayer cards for the clients of Hope Hollow and added personalized prayers for healing.
In February, we held a Hope Hollow food and product drive. Families were asked to send in food and hygiene items and gift cards for gas and groceries. We had an amazing turnout of donated items, and are so grateful to our families for participating! The last part of our initiative took place at Thursday's CARE meeting, during which students worked with their CARE families to combine their prayer cards, gift cards and snack and hygiene items to make treat bags for the Hope Hollow clients to enjoy after their treatments. Then on Friday, we held a Blessing of Food prayer service in the gym, during which Monsignor Hendricks blessed the bags and the gifts were then presented to the Miss Jane and Mr. Kevin, Hope Hollow founders.
We had a great amount of support for this school-wide service project, and the students enjoyed responding to the struggle that the clients of Hope Hollow face when it comes to paying for gasoline and food while giving them greater peace of mind throughout their treatments.

Boy Scouts Receive Catholic Embled for Service
|
8th grade students Matthew Drab and Justin Smith (as well as Joe Gallo, parishioner, and freshman at Dublin Coffman) received the "Ad Altare Dei National Catholic Boy Scout emblem" at the 5:00 Mass this weekend. This means "at the altar of God" and requires approximately 9 months of work to earn. These boys completed an Anointing of the Sick service project by volunteering their time and talents at a local nursing home, attending two weekend retreats, and completing a parish service project at St. Brigid. This is the highest honor for a Catholic Boy Scout.
