The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

This is an important week for our 8th graders. On Friday, May 21st, and Saturday, May 22nd, Bishop Brennan will be here to confirm 200 of our parish children. Please pray for our Confirmandi as they take the next formal step in their faith formation.

Our 2nd-grade students have all received their 1st Communion over the past several weeks. Please see the beautiful First Communion album below.

I am pleased to announce several new staff members for the 2021 - 2022 school year.
We welcome Mrs. Allison Herold Mensching as our school nurse. Allison has been a member of Saint Brigid parish since childhood. Mrs. Mensching has 3 children, and her nursing career has all been working in pediatrics at Nationwide Children's Hospital and in a pediatrician's office. She will be working with Mrs. Iannarino at the end of this year to make a smooth transition. I would also like to formally welcome Ms. Rachel Riendeau to our 1st and 2nd-grade team. Ms. Riendeau has been a long-term sub in Mrs. Sobecki’s 1st grade since January. Rachel is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and is currently working virtually on a master’s degree in literacy at Columbia University. Mrs. Paula Thompson has been hired to teach our 7th and 8th-grade math and algebra. A couple of years ago, Mrs. Thompson worked part-time teaching algebra at Saint Brigid. Paula has her Master’s degree in mathematics from Ashland University and is looking forward to being back on staff at Saint Brigid School.

I have recently received questions about the requirement of vaccinations for students. Saint Brigid of Kildare School will not require students to be vaccinated, as it is the parents’ decision. Our school has always followed state requirements regarding immunizations, requiring only those that the state requires, and following the state-mandated process for families who choose to not participate.

Mr. Adam Dufault has asked all of our Diocesan schools to share the following letter regarding Governor DeWine’s recent announcements.  Click here to read the letter from Superintendent Dufault.

Spring Blessings,
Kathy O'Reilly

School Advisory Committee Update
The School Advisory Committee feels incredibly blessed that our students not only continued to grow in their Catholic faith, but were able to do so in an in-person school environment this school year. Starting in the summer the committee was able to meet once a month via zoom to continue to support the school administration. As the school moves forward to a return to normal, the administration has asked the current SAC members to stay on for one more year. This will allow greater engagement from the members in a typical school year.

If you are interested in joining SAC for the 2022-2023 school year, please check the school's website for more information.
