The O'Reilly Minute

Dear Parents,

I’d like to thank everyone for their prayers and support while I continue to recover from my short hospital stay due to a low platelet count. While I’m still waiting for an answer through follow up appointments, I am working to regain strength and building back to a full schedule.

As Memorial Day and the end of the school year approach, we are filled with gratitude for the many blessings and opportunities to Spread Seeds of Hope during the 2024–25 school year!

One of those blessings is our upcoming Super Games Field Day, happening this Friday! Details for the event, including an opt-out permission slip, were emailed last Friday. Thanks to the generosity of our Home and School Annual Fund, we are able to provide this day of fun and games. We are also deeply thankful for our volunteers, who generously give their time to ensure a safe and joyful experience for our students.

The day will include an outdoor picnic with hot dogs grilled by Mr. Rich, delicious sides from our amazing cafeteria staff, and refreshing snow cones! A quick note on dress code for Field Day: per our handbook, shorts should be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee—this includes tennis skirts.

Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate the graduation of our 26th 8th-grade class on Thursday, May 29 at 5:00 p.m. Our 8th-grade leaders have been a tremendous gift to our school community, serving as faith-filled role models for our younger students.

Please also mark your calendars for our last day of school on Friday, May 30, which includes our Leadership Mass at 9:00 a.m. All parents, grandparents, and alumni are warmly invited to attend. There will be early dismissal at 1:00 p.m.

As we quickly approach the end of the year, please take time to read through the important articles below that will help you prepare for the 2025–2026 school year. I am also pleased to share that Mrs. Natalia Banks has accepted the position of Latchkey Director for the upcoming year. Natalia has faithfully cared for the children of St. Brigid for many years, and we are thrilled she will continue to serve in this new leadership role. Please take a moment to get to know her through the feature article below.

As the school year concludes, we also bid farewell to several beloved staff members who are moving on to new chapters in their personal and professional lives:

  • Andrea Grundei will be transferring to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, joining several of her daughters who attend school there.
  • Rachel Reindeau will be pursuing new learning opportunities in the specialized Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program and transferring to St. Agatha.
  • Colleen Ray is relocating to Cincinnati to be closer to her family.
  • Karen DeLucia will be stepping away for a few years to care for her three young children at home.

We are grateful for all they have contributed to our school community and wish them well in their next adventures. Additional staff updates will be shared next week.

Wishing you a joyful and restful Memorial Day weekend, and let us take time to honor and remember the brave men and women who have served—and continue to serve—our country.

Blessings,

Kathy O’Reilly

P.S. School Lunch Update:

  • No salad bar the week of May 26.
  • On Friday, May 30, we’ll be serving a picnic bag lunch: turkey sandwich, chips, apples, and a juice box.

Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven,

may the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pligrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever.

Amen.

Welcome Natalia Banks as Latchkey Director

St. Brigid of Kildare School is happy to welcome Natalia Banks as our new Latchkey Director. Natalia brings a wealth of professional experience, including serving the St. Brigid of Kildare School community for the past nine years. Natalia spent seven years working in the cafeteria, two years aiding in latchkey, has worked as a library and science assistant, and currently serves as a kindergarten classroom aide. Natalia also has prior career experience as a certified nurse, working in diverse settings including pediatric rehabilitation and as a school nurse.

Natalia and her family have been members of our parish since 2006, where her involvement in parish life has been a transformative journey filled with growth and community. “I began by participating in weekly services and volunteer opportunities such as Sandwich Saturday. Engaging in various volunteer activities deepened my faith and allowed me to connect with a vibrant community committed to service and God. Each interaction has reinforced my belief in the power of faith-driven action, reminding me that even small contributions can make a significant impact.” Natalia says.

Natalia and her husband Philip have three adult children (Nick, Brian, and Anastasia) and a youngest daughter (Arina) who is graduating from St. Brigid of Kildare School this year and will be attending Bishop Watterson High School. Adding to her family’s joys are two delightful grandchildren (Milo and Hazel). “Our family dynamics create a blend of love, understanding, and respect. We cherish our time together, whether it’s sharing meals, going on adventures, or simply enjoying each other’s company at home. Family is our greatest treasure.” Natalia says.

Natalia is excited for the opportunity to contribute to our school's mission and create a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for our students. “St. Brigid School’s dedication to fostering a supportive community and emphasis on education grounded in respect, kindness, and service strongly resonates with my personal values. I believe that an after-school program should not only provide supervision but also promote creativity, social interaction, and learning opportunities. I’m excited to support working parents by providing a safe and enriching space for their kids. Building strong relationships with both students and staff will be incredibly fulfilling, and I’m eager to contribute to the school’s community while also growing professionally in this essential role.” Natalia says.

Natalia will begin her role this August and is currently seeking candidates to apply for latchkey assistants. She can be reached at mrs.banks@stbrigid-school.org.
