The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,
As we look ahead to this Saturday, we ask our school community to keep our 2nd grade students in your prayers as they prepare to receive their First Holy Communion. This is a sacred and joyful milestone in their faith journey, and we pray that their hearts are filled with reverence, peace, and a deep awareness of Christ’s presence in the Eucharist. May this special day be a blessing for them and their families, and may it strengthen our entire community in faith and love.
Let us pray for our First Communicants as they make their final preparations this week:
Lord Jesus Christ, bless the children coming forward
to receive Holy Communion for the first time.
May this day be the step toward a life-long love of the Eucharist.
Give them a hunger for this sacred food so that
they turn to you for comfort, guidance, and wisdom as they grow into full discipleship.
Thank you for their innocence and goodness.
May their hands, extended in anticipation of your body and blood,
inspire all of us to cherish this sacred Sacrament.
Amen
On May 14th our May traditions continue with our 2nd and 8th grade students leading our May procession for our May Crowning ceremony. Please see this week’s Friday folder for details.
I would also like to remind you to participate in the World’s Largest Diaper Drive this week. More information can be found in the story below.
On Thursday evening this week our school community has been invited to attend a City of Dublin community event on the topic of mental health. This town hall format will have many resources and hopes to normalize conversations about mental health. Please consider attending if your schedule allows.
In closing, this weekend we take the opportunity to celebrate and honor all mothers with this special prayer.
Spring blessings,
Kathy O’Reilly

Franklin Soil & Water Conservation District Conservation Poster Winners
Each year, the Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District (FSWCD) holds a themed conservation poster contest, which is open to all K - 12 students in Franklin County. This year’s theme was Soil, Where it All Begins. Eight different school districts competed and there were over 1,000 registered students.
There are numerous categories ranging from grades K - 12, but all students' posters are judged by the following criteria: conservation message, visual effectiveness, originality, and universal appeal. Winners were selected by the staff of FSWCD and they were honored with an award on Saturday, May 2nd at Franklin Conservancy.
This year, Laura Manns had the 7th grade students compete in the poster contest as part of their science instruction. Lucy Heise won First Place in the 6-8 grade hand drawn art category, while Charlie Mifsud won First Place in the 7 - 12th grade digital art category.
In addition to having their work posted online on the FSWCD website, https://www.franklinswcd.org/conservation-poster-contest, student work will be displayed in the City of Columbus on six OBM Digital Kiosks from May 4 - 10th.

Semi-Annual Uniform and Spirit Wear Exchange Aug 9 10am-1pm
Shoppers, sign up here to receive reminders and updates: Summer 2026 Uniform and Spirit Wear Exchange. This sign up contains more information about the exchange and signing up ensures you’ll receive a reminder to attend. Everything is FREE and you don’t need to donate to attend. New families are welcome to seek answers to uniform questions as they shop. If you need items, but can’t attend, let a friend shop for you!
Have items to donate? If you have gently used items for the uniform and spirit wear exchange you have a few options for drop-off:
- At the school office June 1-5 or Aug 3-7 during school hours
- At a bin outside Theresa White’s home at 5882 Vandeleur Place, Dublin, OH Aug 1-7
- Bring them with you to the exchange if the other options don't work for you, but please help us put them out.
- If you have a ripped jumper or logoed item, please still donate it as we can use it for spare parts (buttons, crest, elastic, etc.)! Similarly, if you have gym jackets without logos, we will try to find crests to add to them
-
Non-logo leftovers will be given to the Bishop Griffin Center.
Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to organize the exchange, help others find items, and to clean up and pack items for donation at the end of the exchange. If you can help, please sign up here: Summer 2026 Uniform and Spirit Wear Exchange Volunteer Sign Up
