The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

All Saints Day invites us to reflect on the kind and courageous actions of the saints and how we can model our lives based on their example. More than ever, in today’s struggling world we need to find as many ways as possible to spread the Gospel messages of kindness and respect. During the month of November our students will be studying the lives of the saints. Our 1st and 2nd graders are sharing their saint research with the school community each morning during our morning prayer meeting. All of our students and staff are being invited to place a prayer of remembrance request in our Prayer Box. Each morning during our opening prayers we will remember our loved ones during this month of All Saints and All Souls. A special thank you to Griffin Steinbrunner for making our new prayer box.
Tomorrow at 10 AM we will be sending all parents a text message and email testing our emergency alert notification system. This will be sent through Digital Academy, using the contact information we have in Digital Academy. If you do not receive both the text message and email message, please contact Megan Wachalec in the school office at mrs.wachalec@stbrigid-school.org or (614) 718-5825. Please note that this is how parents will be alerted in the event there are emergency notices such as weather closures, etc. We will no longer be using a call system to alert you of these notices -- rather look for a text message and email.

Autumn Blessings,
Kathy O’Reilly

Virtual Family Conferences
We delayed our September Student Led Conferences to allow more time for the new normal to settle in. Keeping the new normal in mind and holding true to our philosophy of student led conferences, we would like to offer Virtual Family Conferences during the month of November. Our students will be working in class during the next few weeks to reflect on 1st quarter and work on setting goals for 2nd quarter.

These virtual family conferences are optional due to the fact that many parents and teachers have been communicating already this year. However, we want to make sure that the lines of communication are always open, and we offer this as a chance for families and teachers to discuss both academic progress and emotional well-being during these challenging times.

Click the link below to find the link to sign up for a conference with your child's homeroom/pod teacher.
Fall Festival Fun
We had a great time last week at our Fall Festival!

Preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade enjoyed a pumpkin patch, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade had fun trunk or treating at Brigid's Green, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades had fun taking turns in the gym with the DJ, and all grades enjoyed dressing down -- or dressing up!

Thank you to the room parents for all the behind the scenes work on these fun days! And thank you to the Annual Fund for funding these parties.

Make It a Date! Strengthening Your Marriage During a Pandemic
All married and engaged couples are invited to St. Brigid’s 20th Make it a Date virtual event!

Please join us on Saturday, November 14th from 6:15 to 7:15 pm to hear parishioner Dr. Tim Luis, PhD, a clinical psychologist, share strategies to strengthen your marriage during these unprecedented times. The pandemic has brought a variety of stresses to our homes and marriages – from financial hardships and illness to more togetherness and remote schooling. Learn ways to address these challenging situations and how to make your marriage stronger. There will also be an opportunity to socialize with other couples.

Tim works with adults and families, helping them to create fulfilling lives. Tim and his wife Renee are parents to three young children and have been parishioners for 10 years.

Please RSVP to Ellen Little at ellen.little.187@gmail.com or 614-595-9628 by November 12th to receive the Zoom link for the meeting.

This event is sponsored by Family First and the St. Brigid School of Adult Faith Formation.
Thank You for Supporting the Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is a once a year contribution that covers the cost of programs that are planned by our Home and School Association. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to school projects and activities that enrich the learning experience for our children. Because of this, we will never ask you or your children to sell items door to door to raise money for our school.

Some of the items that have been funded so far this year are:

  • The teachers wish lists were doubled this year to provide supplies for a third learning space per grade to keep your children properly distanced.
  • The music program was changed to include rhythm sticks and other instruments so children could "make music" without singing.

The Annual Fund suggests a $100 donation per child (and $50 suggestion per preschool child). We realize that families have varying financial circumstances, so any gift you can give is appreciated.
