Amazing Grace before the rosary.
The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

This Thursday we will celebrate the end of first quarter with our annual harvest parties. These fun-filled events are organized by parent volunteers and financially supported by the Annual Fund. Our students may also enjoy a dress down day with a special dispensation from Msgr. Hendricks to attend our weekly school Mass in dress down attire. Please make sure your attire is school and Mass appropriate by following the dress down day dress code found in our handbook on page 44. Here is an abbreviated version:
As first quarter comes to an end, please keep in mind that both parents and teachers are encouraged to initiate communication any time during the year if there is a student concern. We believe that it is better to address a student concern or clarify a situation in a timely manner rather than wait for a scheduled conference time. You may contact teachers via email or leave a phone message in the school office at 718-5825. Faculty emails can be found using the quick link in the Wolfhound Wednesday or on our website at http://www.stbrigidofkildare.com/our-faculty/.

Please plan to join us for 9:00 am Mass on Friday, November 1st for Solemnity of All Saints. There will NOT be a school Mass on Thursday, October 31st.

Autumn Blessings,
Kathy O'Reilly

P.S. School pictures will come home tomorrow in Friday Folders. Picture retake day for P-8 will be next Wednesday, October 30. If you would like to get picture retakes, please bring your uncut photo package next Wednesday.

Halloween, All Saint’s and All Souls Day:
A Triple Celebration
From NCEA Parent News:

For parents of children in today’s world of commercial or scary Halloween characters it is even more important to
know the history of the Catholic/Christian tradition of AllHallowtide, Hallowtide or Hallowmas, as you establish your home traditions and set the values on which your family decisions are based.
Student Wins 2nd National Bowling Title
Congratulations to 7th grade student Nicholas Maliwesky for capturing his second national bowling title at the 2019 USBC Youth Open Championships held in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Participating as a member of Thumbs Optional 2.0, Nicholas backed up his 2018 victory by capturing the U12 scratch division team title with a score of 2349. Separately, Nicholas was recognized for his performance at the Ohio State Youth Open Championship in April where Thumbs Optional 2.0 posted the high U12 team series (2504) and game (958) in the nation for the 2018-2019 season. The high game score of 958 is the highest U12 score on record in the nine years the USBC has tracked this team award.

Nicholas was presented with his Eagle trophy signifying a national championship win by the Central Ohio USBC Youth Committee on Saturday, October 5th at his home center, Sequoia Pro Bowl.
Letter to a Suffering Church Book Distribution + Email Reflections
I'm sure most of you are aware of the horrific sexual abuse crisis that has haunted our Church, especially in recent months. We all grieve the wicked ways that priests have abused children, seminarians, and other vulnerable people. With these scandals in mind, our parish has decided to share with you a new book by Bishop Robert Barron. The book is titled Letter to a Suffering Church: A Bishop Speaks on the Sexual Abuse Crisis. Thanks to an anonymous donor, we've ordered a copy of the book for every family in the parish, and I think you'll find it helpful and uplifting. Bishop Barron provides clear insight on the crisis and where we should go from here.

We will be distributing free copies of this book after all of the Masses on October 26-27, or stop by the parish office to claim your copy. We are also providing email and video reflections focusing on one chapter per week for five weeks written by Bishop Barron and his Word on Fire team.

Know that we at St. Brigid of Kildare Parish care deeply about helping you navigate these stormy waters. God bless you!
