Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe that our first quarter is coming to an end this week! On Friday we will be enjoying a fun day of fall festivities including a Pep Rally at 9:00 am and costume/dress down day and classroom parties (see article below for costume guidelines)! Parents are invited to attend the Pep Rally which will be held in the gym. Unfortunately due to classroom space limitations only the room parents assigned to orchestrate the classroom parties are able to attend the parties. Keep in mind that there will not be school on Monday, October 30th.
Next week we will attend the 9:00 am Mass on Wednesday, November 1st for the Feast of All Saints. Please plan to join us if your schedule allows! (Please make note that there will not be a school Mass on Thursday, November 2nd.) All Saints Day invites us to reflect on the kind and courageous actions of the saints and how we can model our lives based on their example. More than ever, in today’s world we need to find as many ways as possible to spread the Gospel messages of kindness and respect. During the month of November, our students will be studying the lives of the saints. The lives of the saints provide all of us role models on how to evangelize and invite all to Come to the Table!
Mark on your calendar for November 7th at 6:30 pm for our Crucial Conversation series. Professional Clinical Counselor and former campus minister, Laura Lewis, will share ideas and strategies about emotional wellness -- touching on anxiety, depression, and the role of mental health. She brings practical ideas and strategies to integrate mental and emotional wellness into your daily family life. In particular, Laura talks about the use of prayer, including meditation, the Examen and Lectio Divina which are all types of prayer we have been teaching our students over the last few years. I asked Laura to do a similar presentation last year for our school faculty and our staff agreed it was the best speaker they have ever heard on the topic of emotional wellness and prayer. Our staff encouraged me to arrange for her to talk with our families so that you would have the same opportunity to hear her suggestions. Laura is an amazing speaker, and your family will greatly benefit from this time well spent.
May you continue to enjoy the blessings of Autumn,
Kathy O’Reilly

Fall Festival Costume Guidelines |
Our room parents are currently working with our teachers to plan a Fall Festival party on Friday, October 27th. Our Annual Fund supports the treats and games for this annual classroom party. Students are invited to wear costumes on this day if they wish. In place of a costume, students may choose a fall color dress down day, or they may wear sweatshirts or t-shirts recognizing their favorite athletic team’s colors or logos.
Fall Festival Costume Guidelines
- Make them simple, easy to wear all day, and not too hot or cold.
- Face masks that cover the entire face and/or head (examples-Spiderman, clown, skeleton, etc.) are not allowed.
- Inflatable costumes will not be allowed.
- Please limit accessories (like wings, crowns, wands) that will be difficult to handle at school, or could be lost or broken. Also, violent props such as pistols, knives, or swords are not permitted.
- Costumes may not have scary/bloody masks/clothes.
- Costumes may not obstruct the student’s view or ability to do work in the classroom.
- Costumes may not be inappropriately revealing, such as shorts, mini skirts, bare midriffs, or low cut tops.
- Costumes may not be offensive or make a political statement in any way.
- Please no make-up
Please check your child’s costume or dress down day outfit, and make sure they are following the guidelines. Thank you!

Girl Scouts Service Project |
The 4, 5 and 6th grade Girl Scout troops combined forces last week to make blankets for Project Linus. They completed 33 blankets, which we were told was a record for one group! These blankets will be given to children who are ill, seriously injured or otherwise in need to help provide comfort to them.

Annual Fund Supports ALSO Programs |
Did you know that the Annual Fund supports the After School Learning & Service Opportunities (ALSO) Program?
Each year students in 5-8 grade have the opportunity to join one of these programs. They cover a wide range of interests and subjects so there is something for every student. A few this year include Yearbook Club, Chess Club, Hobby Club, Card Club, the Spring Musical, Puzzles and Games, Battle of the Books, Prayer Club, Wolfhound Running Club, and Power of the Pen and Pencil. These programs allow students to explore their talents outside of class and offer an opportunity for socialization and personal growth. The Annual Fund provides supplies and stipends for the teachers to provide these programs.
Please consider supporting the Annual Fund so St. Brigid of Kildare can continue to offer these opportunities to our students.
