The O'Reilly Minute

Dear Parents,

Please review the letter that was sent home last Thursday in Friday Folders regarding our return to church plan. This new plan begins tomorrow, Thursday, October 2. This information was only sent home as a paper flyer in order to keep the information more secure and offline.  The link to register if you would like to attend Mass with us can be found in your child’s Friday folder from last week.  The deadline for registering is Noon today.  I would also like to give you a heads up that the parking lot may be crowded.  There will be a large funeral at 12:00 Noon with a luncheon to follow in Hendricks Hall.  Parking will be available at Brigid’s Green if the parking lot is full.

Our upcoming Fall Student-Led Conferences (SLC) will take place on the following dates:

  • October 8th: Grades 3/4 and 5/6
  • October 9th: Grades K-2 and 7/8

Please use the links in the article below to sign up for a conference time. Each family should sign up for one slot with their child's homeroom teacher.

Importance of SLC

During Curriculum Night, we shared how vital it is for teachers, students, and parents to build strong relationships. These conferences provide a wonderful opportunity for your child to reflect on their progress and set goals with both their teacher and family. I encourage you to make the most of this opportunity, which happens three times each school year.

How SLCs Differ from Traditional Parent-Teacher Conferences

Unlike traditional conferences, SLCs empower students to take the lead in discussing their own learning, supported by their teachers and families. Please note that in addition to SLCs, our teachers will reach out through emails, phone calls, or request individual conferences if there are academic, social, emotional, or behavioral concerns. Of course, parents are always welcome to contact teachers with any questions or concerns about their child’s progress.

Autumn blessings,

Kathy O’Reilly

Updates from Our Nurse

Reminder that October 8th is the Flu shot/vaccine clinic 8:30-2pm.

Hand, Foot and Mouth has been seen in schools lately. Read more at this CDC Description and Info

Important Medication Updates:
The clinic
will not be supplying a stock of over-the-counter medications to be given (unless in an emergency). If you want your child to take an OTC medication, please bring in the medication in the original container with the child's name on it and Non-Prescription form off the website.

All Prescription meds need a Physician order and Name/original label on Medication.

Did You Know? Our School Lost & Found is Next to the Gym

It’s the time of year when students begin wearing outerwear . . . and leaving it everywhere. Here’s how you can help keep those items where they should be—with your child!

Label your investment:

  • Label all outwear and layering pieces with your child’s name (e.g, Erin Heise or E. HEISE). Initials only are too time-consuming for others to decode. Avery non-iron tags are an inexpensive and easy to use.
  • If you’ve obtained an item from the Uniform Exchange and it already has a label, re-label it so the item isn’t “returned” to the original owner when lost.
  • Label water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. Many look the same!

When an Item Becomes Lost:

  • Ask your child to visit the lost and found during his/her lunchtime if (s)he is missing an item.
  • Parents are welcome to pop in to check for items during the school day.
  • Items of value (cash, phones, etc.) will be taken to the office receptionist for safekeeping.
