The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

Our wonderful Home and School, in conjunction with our school staff, has been planning lots of safe distancing fun fall activities during this upcoming week! Our in-person and HOME Learners will have the opportunity to wear costumes or dress down in fall colors on Thursday, October 29th. (Due to the costumes and activities, students will attend Mass virtually on Wednesday, October 28th). Different Fall Fun activities have been planned for different grade levels and for HOME Learners. We plan to end this fun day with a short Halloween Prayer Service, using our Google Meets code prayer, just like morning announcements.

  • Preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade - A visit to the St. Brigid Pumpkin Patch
  • 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades - Trunk or Treat with decorated pillowcase treat bags
  • 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades - Fall Fun and Music with a live DJ
  • HOME Learners - Music, art and games under the tents or a Party in a Bag!

All students will enjoy a delicious cinnamon doughnut treat and time for celebrating! Mrs. Brown and the cafeteria staff have also planned a special Halloween lunch for October 29th. The menu will include the following:
  • Mummy dogs (hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls)
  • Spooky Mac and Cheese
  • Dirt pudding
  • Apple slices w/caramel dipping sauce

In lieu of the Barn Bash, we would like to offer some family fun ideas to participate in as a school community family. Starting on Monday, October 26th, a display in front of the school providing a fun place to take family pictures will be available each day from 3:30 - 7:00 pm. Feel free to stop by and take a family picture to share with your friends and family on social media (and tag us on Facebook or Instagram!) or perhaps use the photo for Thanksgiving cards. We are also offering a Family Fall Fun Flip Grid for families to upload a video of their family Halloween costumes, pumpkin carving, apple picking, corny Halloween jokes, etc. The Flipgrid will be available October 21st - November 9th. It will be great to watch these short videos of our families celebrating. Please watch for an email later today from Nathan Graham with exact directions for accessing the Flipgrid.

BIG NEWS!! A family directory is now available. We apologize for the delay, but due to data glitches in Digital Academy we are not able to use their directory. However, we have found a great substitute. You should have received an email from Directory Spot asking you to download the app for your phone or access the website on your computer.

More good news! We have added school pictures to the schedule for the beginning of November. They are scheduled for four days, November 3 - 6, in order to be able to socially distant everyone. A schedule is listed in the story below to make you aware of the date for your child’s picture. We will contact HOME learners regarding pictures as we finalize the plans.

I continue to be thankful each day for our school community working together to keep everyone safe. Your commitment to our community pledge has been awesome! Please keep praying for our school community, and all those who are experiencing anxiety and loss due to the pandemic. Remember that kindness, grace, mercy and patience is necessary each and everyday as we continue to navigate these challenging days.

Autumn blessings,
Kathy O’Reilly

Thank You for Supporting the Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is a once a year contribution that covers the cost of programs that are planned by our Home and School Association. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to school projects and activities that enrich the learning experience for our children. Because of this, we will never ask you or your children to sell items door to door to raise money for our school.

Some of the items that have been funded so far this year are:

  • The playground was completely updated to support the 3-pod play and mask break areas. Everything was color coded including the blacktop, carts and new equipment. More individual play items were added like scoop ball and jump ropes.

  • New basketball hoops were installed.

The Annual Fund suggests a $100 donation per child (and $50 suggestion per preschool child). We realize that families have varying financial circumstances, so any gift you can give is appreciated.
